Not a bad guess... but no, no conspiracy here (joking about all the speculation). We definitely could have got these out the door much earlier.

The reality is we got them out of barrels and into tanks when we could, and then yes we were pretty busy this summer (and last year) still dealing with navigating running a business during covid times and everything that goes with it. So we were a little late getting name, artwork and labels in order. Then yes we did run into scheduling issues with the holidays so unfortunately we had to wait until after the Thanksgiving rush. The beer was kept in the very cold (32F) cooler the entire time and sensory didn't show any changes between now and packaging.

Now that the barrel program (and QC program being the most important part) is all in place we should be having regular releases from here on out.

On a side note - do you really think all the barrel aged beer you buy around Thanksgiving from every brewery (now that GI made that the anchor date for everyone's BA releases) is packaged right before the release? Most big BA programs pack throughout the year and then hold until release date. Busy breweries have to utilize the openings in pack schedule when they are there and can't wait til just before the release for example.

We're just really happy to be back (we think?) in the barrel game and here and hopefully we can earn respect back in all of your eyes. Was not fun to go through those growing pains but they were extremely necessary and we'll be the better brewery in the long run for it (even though ~3 years in brewery terms now seems like forever).

I think I can speak for most on here when I say that we're glad to have you back and wish PW all the best.

Also, my hot beer takes are super sus.

Holy cow, I think you've been away from BA almost as long as the barrel aged program has been on hiatus - good to see you back!

Please actually post that on the beer page as a review ...

I'm currently drinking a Heineken 0.0, High Life bottle, GI Prop 2021, Talisker 10, slice of peppermint pie?, and I have a glass of Intrinsic Duality #1 in front of me as well - so my palette might not be in a great spot for notes lol (still working and all of this has been set on my desk in the last hour). Scratch that... my palette is "sus"

I will provide some tasting notes (probably next week).

These notes aren't on the can - but were in the FWB and Pipeworks newsletter:

#1: similar recipe to Jones Dog (it's not exactly the same but was the starting place) in Binny's select Knob Creek barrels that we thought tasted great on its own

#2: can't remember what barleywine base this is (I don't think it was Murderous based, think it was all new starting point, have to double check) in Weller barrels that we also thought was special on its own

#3 was the same batch as #1 but aged in Heaven Hill barrels and we only had (4) of those barrels so not enough to package on its own. We thought it blended really well with #2 so we blended those to make #3

My super-non-scientific take is that I've had a BA Murderous that was aged in the bottle for about three years (i.e., not the barrel), and Intrinsic #2 was very different, so this tracks. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Question @NOTpipeworks since you’re all lubed up and posting tonight (been there, see the previous page). Any plans for Abduction returning (BA or non). Coffee Break was always one of my favorites, so patiently hoping to see those in cans in the future.
