Going to attempt round two of trying to get a few more hours of sleep. I may still be wired up by that maple sugar bomb I had late afternoon. Hopefully this will help with matters.

Hope you all had sweet dreams and return with a sweet beer or two to enjoy this day before the Winter Solstice.

Two more from 1979, the first a regular bumper song played by the late great Art Bell on Coast to Coast AM, which would just be wrapping up at this time if he were still alive and on the air.

Do you miss hearing Art on your radio?

Good morning everyone and good week,
yesterday there was the Bologna Derby in basketball, and to celebrate Virtus for the victory of the tough battle against the fortitudo I opened this beer directly from the cellar, after giving it 10 minutes in the fridge just to cool the bottle a little :

Dugges Bryggeri (SVE) + Hunter & Sons Speciality Coffee (ING) + Hill Roastery (ING) - THE SIDAMO DIMTU (Imperial Coffee Stot) 10%

Imperial Coffee Sotut with the bar in Bath (ING) Hunter & Sons, specializing in coffee and craft beer, which obtained the coffee from the Round Hill Roastery (also in Bath, ING); a Dimtu from the Sidamo region of Ethiopia.
33 cl bottle, aged a couple of years in my home cellar (fixed temperature 16 ° C).
Beer that I drank several times, when I also found it on tap (@ Luppolo12, Rome) and of which I wanted to leave a bottle to age.
On the nose, espresso coffee and a hint of licorice / anise.
When poured, the scent of coffee is released even more, little light brown foam, which remains just veiled to the side of the glass, very little consistency.
    Impenetrable black color.
In the mouth the entrance is sweet, but soft, but soon the full body of the beer comes out and makes the drink full and round.
The predominant taste can only be that of an espresso coffee, bitter, with a balanced smoky (rather than roasted) aftertaste almost an earthy touch, but not in a negative sense, to convey the idea of the incisiveness of this gustatory note.
Alcoholic note that makes itself felt before a closure in which notes reminiscent of dark chocolate and (once again in my opinion) a slight hint of licorice emerge.
    Great taste (even slightly spicy).
All in all dry finish, even if the underlying creaminess also remains on the lips.
Full, hot drink, very characterized by malts and coffee, but with a sweetness that "rounds" the particularly smoky / roasted notes of the coffee more than I remembered with the younger beer itself.
Maybe aging hasn't gone a long way but, in my opinion, this beer is in great shape.
Nice balance, perfectly in style in my opinion and I tend to believe that this particular coffee used has contributed a lot to the characterization of the taste of this beer.

Howdy advocates and thanks @ChicagoJ for starting the thread on the right track. We’re still having fairly depressing weather and the sun has been hiding for about two weeks now. It’s seasonal anyway. Typical fall weather.

Drinking a new to me beer from Belgium, a sour ale from err, Brasserie de Silly.

    Cheers.

Good day BAs! Off to a late start for no particular reason - Thanks @ChicagoJ for opening the virtual bar early! And @Jack_14 I really enjoy your reviews of beers I'll probably never see!
Off to a sunny start today - we usually get most of our sunny days in winter here - always pisses me off that we get them Jan - Mar and damn few May - Jul. Oh well, that's the curse of NW PA.
Anyway, today's New Breakfast Beer is from @Roy_Hobbs and NBS BIF #14:

Fresh Hops IPA from Brouwerij Kees (NL).
Straight frozen from the bine. It is a start. There is not a real tradition when it comes to fresh hops here. I'm glad some breweries are picking this up at last

G'day Advovates! and thanks there @ChicagoJ for beginning this thread today. Happy Holidays to everyone. A beautiful sunrise this morning after a groovy weekend and I'm enjoying this Breckenridge Juice Drop Hazy IPA. Taking a break from some early-in-the-day power drumming. This beer is absolutely gorgeous looking, feeling AND tasting. Man alive the citrus fruits are almighty & juicy in it. Lightly tart, well balanced, a hint of dry white bread crust and EZ drinking to boot for a 7%'r. Real clean. Miles of smiles! Cheers!

My a.m. "fruit juice" usual a la N/A.

Day off today from running, and back at the monkey grinder. Been an O.K. year, all things considered, and I hope yours has treated you well, but let's hope for an even better '22.

    Cheers, as always...

I am willing to make a bet that I'm the only one here that appreciated your comment about the Bologna derby. Sure, it's not as glamorous as it once was but it is a special game nonetheless. I recall the days of Danilovic, and later Manu, Carlton Myers, Basile, Fucka. Those were great games. Virtus has been stepping up their game in recent years, especially after getting Teodosic so let's see if Fortitudo can match them.

This conversation is making me thirsty. Time to open a lager.
