It begins. Reached out to the local distributor, they told me to contact Tavour, I reached out to Tavour and got lumped in to a group email to GLS asking where my box is.
Not related to tavour, but related to custom service. I've had times where one company tells me that it is the other's fault. The other tells me it is the first company's fault. I tell both what the other said, and they both tell me that I'm up an unsanity tributary without visible means of locomotion.
Fremont Spice Wars showing up for me just now. Not my thing, but heads up to those who might have missed it first time around. @o29
Continuing the barleywine thread… a new pricey Anchorage barleywine/stout blend Open Up More came and went quickly, even at $50. Open Up (your wallet) More
I’m done dropping $50-$100 for a 12 oz Anchorage. They’re good, but I think I’m finally done with my FOMO. I’ll pop one of my ADWTD TOs and then buy more reasonable beers.
As someone who hasn't had any, I'm wildly curious. I have a few in my crate. Also tempted just to cancel those and spend the money on a weekend trip to Side Project. Anchorage's Wendigo Double Oaked showed up for me, but never made the first page. It's still showing as available for me. This is on top of the barleywine mentioned above, and Darkness from a couple weeks ago.
Another crate gone missing. GLS says it never made Denver, Tavour says it was delivered on Friday. Shop cameras show no GLS package deliveries were attempted. Looks like another crate loaded with some great beer has bit the dust. But Tavour sure doesn't mind operating off the money they were paid for the bottles already. Sounds like a job for the Attorney General's office.
Sorry man. I really hope this gets resolved for you. What a mess. I have a giant box closing today and shipping this week so this is making me anxious.
My first box in nearly two years is closing out in a couple weeks. Tempted to bump it up, as I'm now pretty anxious about getting the beers now. Hope they resolve @SFACRKnight 's problems.
Not sure who to pin this on at this point. GLS said in a phone call the crate is missing. It never made it to Denver. Now GLS just updated the shipping to show out for delivery again today. Still says delivered on the 12/24 update.
As a BW lover, I would gladly trade you other beer you would want, that might be on a comparable rarity at a $4$ ratio (or even give you the edge) if you want to keep trying for ADWTD. I don’t tavour, so seems like a reasonable option if you want stuff from out in the Midwest, whether that is Jackie Os (I pay attention ), or others. Just throwing that out there.
Oh, I pulled the trigger on two ADWTD TOs! That’s about as first-world obscene as I care to do again. I figured one for drinking, maybe one for trading. I make a 3-hr trip (each way) to Ohio when I go for my Tavour orders (to Erie PA because of no Western NY carrier any more). There’s a small chain that gets Jackie O’s, so I buy as many BA stuff I can get while I’m there. I’ve enjoyed every BA thing I’ve had from JO’s. Sometimes they have Revolution Deep Woods. It’s terrible. I must buy them! I just found out there’s a VooDoo Brewing minutes from the Erie UPS I use, but IDK how their barrel program works, e.g., lottery, first come first served? What’s another 30 minutes when I put in the 7+ hours round trip? LOL! I have to get my beers bought! Wife has projects in mind, so curtailing my beer budget is on the horizon after January. Next Tavour has 2 new Blesseds, a Fremont DS Spice Wars, and 2 Hoppin Frog QORIS…then I have some Mortalis As Above So Below to pick up Friday…then the likely Ohio trip…so many good things there. She hasn’t killed me yet.
Crate showed up today. GLS is about worthless when it comes to delivering packages. Tavour had nothing to do with it. Once again I'm reticent to use Tavour as a result of the service received. But I nabbed MoAS. #conflicted
I complained so much about the local last leg carrier. Eventually, they parted ways. Now I have to drive two hours each way to a UPS store in Erie PA. Maybe better a terrible carrier than no carrier. It did open a trip leg to Ohio, but that adds another 3-4 hours.
My wife gives me one of these trips a year. This year I used it on Side Project. You’ve been able to double, triple and even quadruple up, so looks and sounds like your get your “money’s worth” out of each and every trip!
Consumer tastes passed it by? it became too easy to get thus losing its luster? Who can say exactly - but its still as good as it ever was.
