Another treat from @Beersnake1. If you get a chance to win one of his LIFs, I'd recommend it.

I am super confused by the label as to the name of the beer, so I think I'm just going to throw out all the words in the order I found them: Mother Earth Barrel Aged 4 Seasons Nitro Russian Imperial Stout Quit Stalin.

16oz can served in a footed pilsner. Dated 06/16/21.

Pours a murky dark brown with a very slow-forming head, creamy, collapses to a surprisingly stable donut with a quarter-moon opening. Smell is CHOCOLATE (yes, that's all caps, because that's how it smells). I can maybe imagine some other dark roast flavors in there, like coffee and anise, but mostly it smells like chocolate milk.

Taste is lots of chocolate, but less milky and more dark, tons of bitterness in the finish, where more dark roast coffee pushes to the front and anise is kind of a lingering background note. Maybe some dates/raisins flavor in there to add a little sweetness.

Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy but with a surprisingly watery texture. Overall, this is really nice.

I put all of that in a review, but due to my difficulty in deciphering the name, I have low confidence it's actually under the right listing.

    Thank you, @Beersnake1!

Drinking this great beer that was sent by @Roy_Hobbs in a recent LIF. Merkel from the Suarez Family. Poured at fridge temp. Pours a nice light pinkish/reddish with a bit of orange. White head that lingers with little lacing.

The nose is amazing. Fresh cherries, pomegranate, lime, and a bready note. This might sound odd, but I smell a bit of cinnamon. There is a slight funk. Some vanilla. Orange as well.

Taste is sour and sweet. Tangerines, lots of cherries, vanilla, funk, and a nice tart note.

Mouthfeel is dry and fairly light. Overall, this is fantastic. Just the right amount of funk and sweetness. Very happy to have tried this one! Thanks!

Two for the price of one on this post...first, Shark Side of the Moon, a decocted black German pilsner made in a collaboration between Humble Sea and Full Circle. This is another beer I got from @Beersnake1.

16oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. Dated 11/10/21.

Pours dark brown with a big fluffy head that collapses slowly into a fairly large, very creamy looking head. Smell is yeast, grain tea, maybe a little grassiness. Surprised I'm not getting more roasted grain stuff -- there's a little bit of dark toast, but not much.

Taste brings in the dark roasty flavors. Light to medium coffee, hint of burnt sugar, roasted grains. Moderate grainy sweetness, light yeast, little bit of a grassy hoppy bitterness at the end.

Mouthfeel is light and dry with a slight chalkiness. Overall, this is quite good and I'm enjoying it.

    Thank you, Tim!

    Second, dinner.

The pasta sauce was included in @MacMalt's gigantic porch bomb. Mrs snaotheus was looking for a quick and easy meal, and it doesn't get much easier than pasta with jarred sauce. She fancied it up by adding burrata (which is delicious if you've never tried it -- highly recommend).

It's good, but not good enough to shake her off the go-to brand of jarred sauce (Rao's). Even Rao's will usually get doctored rather than getting served straight from the jar, but for the sake of science we left this in its pure form.

    Thank you, Rob!

Taking notes on a can @snaotheus sent me. Just hand notes for now. I will transpose to a review in the coming weeks. Taking things slow on this holiday otherwise.

Yeah! A Christmas present from Mrs. snaotheus. It features a photo of us drinking Heady Topper, the third time we ever saw it (the only time we ever saw it in the wild, although it was a bit elderly).

Merry Christmas to everybody out there. Getting a later beer start than I anticipated, but hoping to try out a few new beers tonight. First up is Westmalle Trappist Triple...an excellent start to my Christmas evening.

Appearance is an extremely clear golden color with loads of foamy head with very good retention and lacing. Aroma is heavy on the yeast, with cloves and bananas both present. Taste has yeast and fruity esters...banana, clove & grains that all work very well together. Alcohol is very well hidden. Lively, crisp and clean. An excellent Belgian Ale.

Your handwriting is so much nicer than mine.

Do you have a second pen inked with the other color? Or do you dip or something?

Thanks so much for the compliment. Hand writing notes consistently is starting to help improve my hand writing.

I use a second pen with a medium nib for titles and my main pen with a fine nib for notes. Title ink is Yama-budo, note ink is Asa-goa.

Can received in a ninja strike associated with Bif 14 from @FBarber

Brewers Notes: NZ Cascade and Riwaka hopped + phantasm American Pale Ale

If the idea of high-flavor, low-ABV, all-New Zealand, all-the-time hop juice gets your blood pumping like it does ours, you're in for a treat next week. Synthwave and it's hop bill BRINGS it..and with phantasm added in for good New Zealandy measure.

Pale hazy lemony straw colored liquid capped by a four finger off white fluffy foam cap , good retention , spotty lacings , settles to a frothy layer

    Aroma is floral

Taste is citrus lemon, grapefruit , floral

    Sudsy mouthfeel , no bite

    Good beer Gritty

Fresh home-made roll, last of my home-made giardiniera...so damn good.

But, to be fair, good giardiniera is unbelievably good on an unbelievable number of things. I tried it on apple pie once.
