What beer are you drinking now? #3356

Good morning BAs! Thanks to @dcotom for opening today's thread - only a little over a week to go. Yesterday's snow is mostly gone this morning - I guess it couldn't survive our 33 degree heat wave. Today's New Breakfast Beer, however, survived nicely:

Anyway, this was sugoi, what seems to be part of a series of cerveceria monstruo de aqua from the Colectivo Atl-xolotl. Very nice lemon-grass forward in nose and taste and nice label of an axolotl. Rating 3.73, rDev +1.9%.

 

Drinking a bottle of Svagdricka from Spendrups. "Alcohol content 2,0%", "Original gravity max 6%". A low abv, dark small beer sweetened with saccharin basically. It's not bad for what it is, a low abv dark lager basically, and I don't mind the added sweetness from the sweetener. It is better tasting than the brand below which I had a couple of years ago which tasted papery, likely from being packaged in a plastic bottle. These brands are sold as nostalgic, old fashioned beers even though they are brewed like any other low abv lager beers nowadays, apart from the added saccharin. These beers used to be top fermented, while also being dark, low gravity and low hopped, and sold unaged in small kegs for the most part. At times, and more commonly during some periods, sweetened with saccharin. The top fermentation would likely have given these beers a distinct fermentation flavor and aroma which are absent in these modern lager beer iterations.

In my glass now is Family Drama Imperial Pilsner from Flying Dog. It's not as tasty as the Prima Pils I just had, but it's 8.4% ABV, so there's that.
