Back home to wintery Wyoming. It was dry and in the 60's in Colorado. Right now it's 4° on a calm and sunny day.

Hey BA. Twin Elephant House Lager. It’s an American Pilsner. Made well, but I’m not a huge fan of the Moteuka in a Pilsner now get off my lawn. Cheers!

got a small, 2lb, brisket smoking at 180 so we’ll see how long that takes:wink:

Good day Advocates and thanks @dcotom again for popping the top off todays thread.
I just enjoyed this gorgeous collab brew from Mason Aleworks/Beer Zombies: Mosaic Revengeance. Fantastically clean and simple. More frozen water cascades from the sky here today. Uhg. Getting a mild workout moving it around. Could be worse! Looks like one of our mates here is about to jump the broomstick. Cheers y'all! Keep on smiling!

Like @cbcrunch - I TEND to feel the same way about this beer. This is my version, in my own mind, of SN Celebration. Love it. Sadly, my last one. BOO.
    But still, cheers...

A HIPA day here for me. Toppling Goliath Forced Flair DIPA is fittin' like a mitten. It's aroma is lightly redolent of Scorpius Morchella if yooins have ever had that brew. A bit of snow grooming is in my future today. Chairs!

Other half space diamonds; kind of a cloudy afternoon here in south Florida but that ocean is about 80 degrees so I’m not complaining! Glad to be away from the cold and on a secluded beach.

Good afternoon, advocates. Getting into it w/ some Socratic Questioning 29 from Fiden's. They are definitely the real deal when it comes to NEIPAs. Cheers!

    von Trapp Maple Rauch

From 16oz can marked BEST BY 4/12/22

Well, I love Rauchbiers, love maple syrup and love most everything von Trapp puts out there so I'm guessing I'm going to like this.

Pours into my pilsener glass a dark brown (caramel at the edges when held to the light) with a creamy light brown to taupe 2 finger head. Head falls fairly quickly leaving a ring and a skim along with some soapy lace. Nice looking beer.

Scent is light smoked ham and cheese (smoked beers always have this smoked ham and cheese thing for me - it's likely more a mental association in my oddly-wired pea-brain than an actual quality of the beer. Did I mention I have synesthesia? And that the word "rubbish" tastes like salt water taffy to me?), bread, caramel, and noble hops.

Taste is beautifully subtle. There's a touch of maple richness / sweetness which gathers, if you will, in the finish. The crisp noble hop note is there. The smoke here is understated. More of a mildly meaty note. There's a fresh bread note as well as caramel and lightly toasty notes from the munich malts and hints of coffee and chocolate from the carafa malts.

Mouth is soft for a lager - soft and a touch creamy.

I loved it. I think folks who are not fans of smoked beers should give this one a try. It's understated, subtle and very easy to drink. The smoke does not overwhelm nor does the maple ever become cloying. Sweet, savory and herbal are all balanced well.
