For sure. Definitely not trying to pick bones here, just wishing for beer to drink is all.

 

I think the SP white label Single Farm Nelson for $20 was the surprise of the year and I probably got a case to drink. Very similar to the HF Self-Reliance dry hopped series which is about $15 / bottle. I believe they are continuing this SP Single Farm series with different hops and I hope they keep that price point since it really justifies buying a case at that price.

 

100% on this. great beer. borderline drinks like an IPA. didn’t include it because $20 seemed steep in the context of this discussion and also wasn’t sure if they’ll make it again. and if they do make another one, i’d guess it would be a different hop so basically a different beer.

 

Agreed. One of my favorite/best beers of the year. Thank you Jeff for getting it out to me.

I thought I expanded on it in the thread when I drank it. If not, my notes: “thought it was lovely. A “could drink it all the time” beer. Nelson done well is sublime. Earthy, succulent, but finishing dry. Love this style and this is right there for me with things like Hill E. and Sue, etc.”

 

There’s also monkish, phase 3, narrow gauge, ryewine with casitas, mikerphone ba version!

With beers you're only going to have one time or so in your life, it's the only way. Whoever these people are that get palate fatigue after 3 beers, they aren't me nor anybody I know personally. Comparing highly touted beers side by side is the only way to really gauge whether one is head and shoulders above another. I just had the two V3 bottles by Voodoo/Phase 3, then a 150 BCBS, over the course of a few hours, and the contrast was stark--particularly how absolutely inferior the 150 was. Thankfully this year's Toasted was much better.

If anyone has not had it, Black and Wild is a killer beer. Came here to tick another BA 250 brew only to find out it has been bumped from the list. lol

I know this isn’t a WBAYD thread, but I like to toss in an occasional pic of SP bottles I’m drinking being an outsider.

I’ve been on vacation before Christmas and haven’t really gotten into my 750s/bigger ABV bottles. Big thanks to @tripelhops for being top notch and getting this package safely to me.

It’s my long haul pour. Opened it just before 5pm EST and it will be gone by the time I head to bed around 9p. About halfway throughout it. Full/additional thoughts to come. Cheers!
