Each year there are threads and conversations about best of the year, but I don't think I've seen any about looking forward (outside of memberships). So, that said, what are you looking forward to in 2022? Any styles you want to drink more of? Any breweries you've been meaning to visit or explore? Any styles that you feel you're going to leave behind or move on from?

For me personally, I've been meaning to get out to Afterthought. That's the top of my list of 2022. I'd also really like to get back to having more of what got me hooked on craft beer initially, so I'm looking to explore some old favorites in the porters and brown ales. I've heard Midwest Coast makes a great brown, any others out there?

Afterthought is top of my list of places to hit up in 2022.

I hope I finally get to make a real visit to Chicago.

Hope to finally do a trip to FOBAB (likely with my sister and her friend, who are sour lovers, which makes a nice compliment to me enjoying BA stouts)

Would love to get a ticket to SP Invitational or something like that, but if they do a surprise release (or surprise instagram notification), I’m probably SOL.

Hope to continue exploring HA Benthic. Probably my favorite beer of 2021, and one of the most exciting I have tried in years. (I tried it once before, but it was NOT the 2021 Benthic, that is for sure.)

Hope to explore more lagers and more traditional styles, especially the darker maltier varieties, regardless of ABV (some regionally, but also more internationally).

Hope to get back into shape in the next 2 months and that I will keep that weight off a little better than I have the last 4 months. It got rough, quick.

    Intend to do more reviews.

Would like to finally try Anabasis.

Would like to try some more IPAs from some of the heavy hitters (nationally), but also explore more from P3 when summer comes.

Hope…the cellar does not grow much. Really would like to keep drinking it down.

I'd really like to get a beercation completed in some of the states across the South to tick them off my list for drinking a beer in every state. I need MS, AL, GA and SC. I've had beers in each of those states years ago, but they are not documented with a brewery review here on BA. I'd probably continue up the East Coast to CT and RI since I need to tick them too.

I'd also love to get back to Homebrewing too. I have a few clone recipes for beers that are hard to get, and certainly not in quantity, so a few Homebrewing sessions will fix that.

This doesn’t solve your issue, but I can certainly send you AL, GA and MS beer when I visit those states for work later this year. I assume you’ll say no, but always happy to help.

    1. Spend less.
    2. Visit Side Project more.

Somehow, I don't think I can complete both of those in a given year.

In all seriousness, I'd like to try more of the top notch coffee stouts. Cycle, Voodoo, and Bottle Logic all have some that come to mind. Finally trying Alesmith's Double Barrel Speedway would be slick too. That and continue to support my favorite locals.

Keep picking up and exploring more lagers. Especially local but definitely need me some more Goldfinger in 2022.

Try a few more local brewers even if it's ones whose main styles I don't typically care for.

Get in a night out at the new CW Mke location.

Get in another night out at 1840 brewing.

2 nights out away from my kid? Both in the same year?? As long as we're doing pipe dreams might well also add get in shape (haha!) and make it back out to the west coast to the list as well.

You're right, I have to say no to your nice offer. My quest is to drink a beer while I'm in each state. I've already completed my goal to drink a beer from each state. Thanks for the offer.

Genius. Don't worry, many great minds were initially mocked.

EDIT: LOL. Don't check their Instagram or you're resolution may be over before 2022 even begins...

Start rating my beers again on Untappd
That's my only real big one. I got peer pressured into not doing it in 2021 and then when I went back to see what beers I enjoyed I had a hard time remembering how much I liked them. So back to handing out caps.

Try every traditional European beer I can find reasonably fresh.

I'm making up for a life misspent in Hypesville.

Sometimes I feel like the only "serious" person on Untappd out of the few people I have on there but I agree it's always great to look back and have a very accurate record of how much time and money I waste on beer. The worst is forgetting something you had and didn't care for and get suckered back in.

It IS the worst! It's part FOMO, part nostalgia, but all mental. It is hard to give up the thought of verticals or an annual purchase, but we need to help each other CUT BACK and MOVE ON!
Sorry Founders, Bells, Firestone Walker, and Goose - you took hundreds (thousands!?!) of my $$ over the past decade and I cannot do it any more.
I like to be loyal, but no longer for breweries that aren't cutting it (for my tastes).

You have to drink what you like. There’s no point in consuming something you like less just out of loyalty. If it is local, it’s local, If it ain’t, it ain’t. Whatever it is you like, drink that. In full support.
