    Good day @dcotom and all,

Currently enjoying Duvel, the original one. It’s been a while and I’m never getting tired of it.

Good Morning @dcotom and thank you for another joyous Christmas kickoff to the day, the second to last in 2021.

Learned and discovered a lot this year, as I approach my seventh year here. Wasn't familiar with the Festbier style, but glad I discovered it, as I like this style much more than the traditional Oktoberfest style.

This was my Bronze Medal winner among new to me beers over the 3 week Oktoberfest tasting thread hosted by @Todd . This is the 16th ranked Festbier on BA. The more I try from Maplewood, the higher this brewery climbs among my Chicago rankings. Really love they are near the Beer Temple and Revolution as well, it's a fun taproom to visit.

It's faded a bit, but still tasty.

With the usual nods, apologies, and disclaimers --- gotta join my local running group in the next 30 minutes so N/A is the obvious choice for now. See ya later, I hope. Cheers!

[IMG] Day one of 4 off. Cuddled and chatted with the wife the last 45, sadly I like the cuddling more than her and she likes the talking more, but normally morning talk with her in the morning is a no no. Not a morning person. Now for one of the greatest flagship beers on earth. Cheers all and I will be here plenty today. Also @BaconMan420 first rule of BA, never talk about how much one might drink in a day. Ha Ha!

Good day BAs! Thanks to @dcotom for starting today's thread. It was kind of foggy and warm this morning when I retrieved the newspaper - I wish I could convince Mrs. Lizard to switch to the e-paper version so I won't have to head down the ice-covered driveway to retrieve the pointless local news. Oh well - when I beam out and she falls down and breaks a hip...

But anyway, today's New Breakfast Beer is one I picked up at Shangy's a couple of months back:

Nice! I didn't realize Brauerei Schloss Eggenberg produced anything but Samichlaus Classic but now I have to stalk them to collect the rest of the brew menu - may involve a trip to Austria!
    Good beer - rating 3.88, rDev -7.4%.

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass canned on 11/5/21. Pours a cloudy orange with a finger plus sticky white head that leaves a wall of lace with excellent retention. 4

Aroma is mandarin, mango, passionfruit, and apricot. 4

Taste follows mandarin, mango, passionfruit, and apricot. 4

Mouthfeel is a little bigger than average, not sticky or dry, fairly soft carbonation, and at 7.8% it goes down easy. 4

Overall this is pretty good, nothing special but worth a try. 4

Hey BA's - happy last Thursday of 2021....

Did a nice - overcast, misty hike with Emma at the local State Park here - didn't see a soul - just how I like it!

Popped this gift from my future son-in-law (from 2020 Christmas I believe) - quite tasty

[IMG] Poured into a 10 oz tulip glass bottled on 11.01.21. Pours pitch black with a finger mocha head that leaves a few streaks of lace, with solid retention. 4.25

Aroma toasted almonds, deep dark chocolate, vanilla bean, and smoked whiskey. 4

Taste follows the toasted almonds dominate, vanilla, dark chocolate, black coffee, and bourbon really bold. 4

Mouthfeel is bigger than average, maybe a tad dry, gentle carbonation, and at 13.4% a sipper for sure. 4

Overall, I normally love what they do with stouts, but this one is just ok. I spent $14.00 and yes it is helping with a buzz, but not something I would ever purchase again. 4
