BOYS AND GIRLS WE GOT A SPICY-ASS MEATBALL

Tin Barn opening up an outpost in the Finger Lakes next year. No address yet but it's gonna be on Seneca and the property is just, shit, I don't even know. It looks like a $10M estate. Massive stone building with a huge, sprawling plot of land all around it. Looks like its on the main highway so that means probable lake views.

When OHFLX was announced I definitely envisioned that whole area blowing up with breweries but I never imagined how many and how quickly.

Other Half has been an absurd success out there, Big Alice seemed to have done extremely well too so if this place does that kind of business too we might legit just be looking at the tip of the iceberg. There is plenty of available land in the Finger Lakes and plenty of gorgeous old properties that could be repurposed, this shit is going to be the most coveted beer real estate in the country.

That’s some great news right there. Crossing my fingers for east shore.

Also in FLX (and Seneca Lake) news, Seneca Stag brewing opening this Friday. Looks gorgeous inside, they've got an equally gorgeous outside area (useless until like April but still) and its a great location both for people hitting Pen Yann and for people doing the West side wine trail.

I guess that'll get me out of my corner of the universe a bit more.

Finger Lakes, brah! It's a way of life.

So the Starkeys building that Tin Barn bought ($1.3M BTW, which seems super low given size and location) is almost completely turnkey and they expect to be fully up and running by spring.

Would've guessed higher on the price as well. Any word on if they will be brewing on site? I know Starkey's does not.

Per the article in the Rochester D&C no, or at least not initially. Tin Barn's owner Lauren said the main building doesn't work at all for brewing, but there are some smaller buildings on site that down the line she could use for small-batch/experimental stuff.

Something called Other One Brewing coming to Clifton Park/Halfmoon. There's a sign on a window and that's it, though. No social media presence, no newspaper articles, they're not on the NYSBA website, nothing.

This is the start of cider country. Lots of wine/cider tap rooms already up here. Just following the crowds.

Somebody posted a pic of a 'coming soon' sign there in a local beer FB group and was asking about it.

    1) Seneca Stag opened a few weeks ago. Looks killer, can't wait to check that out next summer.

    2) Okay Brewing in Honeoye Falls getting close to opening, I'd imagine probably in the next month or two.

    3) Ditto on that with Upper Depot Brewing in Hudson.

    4) Artisinal Brew Works opened its new taproom last weekend. Same address as the last place but on the back of the building instead, looks nice and homey in there and with much more space than their temporary digs.

Also, Will Cleveland of the Rochester D&C did his year-end beer list and mentioned that Rochester proper has 3-4 openings slated for next year already (only one I know of so more on the others when I find it out) AND that a couple "big-name breweries are looking at expanding into the Rochester/FLX area."

I genuinely have no guesses on who it may be but Grimm and Drowned Lands would be the dream.

I think there is a 0.5% chance DL would expand at this stage. Unless they were to do a small satellite tap room somewhere - that could make sense. I guess grimm could use more space but I don’t see them going upstate. Wonder who it could be?

On another note I read that THREES will be opening a spot in Moynihan train hall - the newly renovated penn station hub in manhattan.

DL has been around the same amount of time as Tin Barn so I don't know why it would be outlandish to think they'd expand in the same manner. Especially because -- as anyone who has been to DL can plainly see -- the people behind that brewery have plenty of money at their disposal.

And to be very clear, I have heard nothing about Grimm or DL expanding, they're not even guesses, it's just "in a perfect world for me personally this is what would happen."
