Don't count on finding a brand at your Walmart that these BA commenters find at theirs. My Walmart selection (Long Island, NY) is dismal. And Costco is only slightly less so. Good luck, though. Maybe Anchor Steam or other Anchor beer is available?? What about Sam Adams? Some Mexican beer might be OK: (Modelo as suggested above) or Bohemia or XX lager or amber.

Whenever I visit the great state of AZ I always make a point to hit up one of the many fine Total Wine establishments abound for beer purchases...of course you can not get your diapers, guns, ammo, Mountain Dew and renew your fishing license there either so there is that.

Not sure if Great Lakes is distributed where you are, but Dortmunder Gold is a very good lager at a very reasonable price. Too bad you're outside of the Jack's Abby footprint, they have the best quality/price ratio you're likely to see.

thanks mood! they got modelo but not bohemia which i would prefer. I bet they have Sam Adams too. We hitting sam's club friday, so there are some good options: Acnhor steam, 805, Sam, guiness. Better value too, good discounts. but circle K up street, later today, plan to just go, browse and buy something to tide me over till friday

I find the value proposition of Mexican lagers a tough sale as, at least around here, they are priced at or near craft beer levels.

Corona makes finding the beach confusing. The beach themes in the commercials seem Caribbean. But the beer is Mexican. OK, the US Corona is owned by Constellation, a US company, and their major brewery is in Mexico on the US border. Only beach close to that brewery is at the Rio Grande.

I agree that the value/quality ratio for Mexican beer is not good. I remember an old trade publication ad for XX; the tag line was "uncommon profit". However, the choice among moderately priced lagers with much to recommend is, to my tastebuds, very limited.

Yeah, but that's why they want you to find the beach - they have no idea where it is.

Well, Constellation's beer division headquarters are in Chicago, so close to Lake Michigan and the company's origins and corporation headquarters are in NYS's Finger Lakes, not far from Lake Ontario... beaches of sorts on those bodies of water.

In the early days of the '80s the US Corona importers in the US had not yet settled on that sort of ... um, "un-Mexican"... campaign.

Like to see 'em on Oak Street Beach this Sunday -- 8+ inches of snow forecast for the lake front.

    Happy New Year.

How about the 31st Street Beach? When I worked on the South Side of Chicago in '76-77 my lab mate and I would jog to that beach on Lake Mich. and back during our lunch hour. Not too many beach-goers there in those days, regardless of the weather.

No. It would violate the non-compete clause in his contract with Genesee for Honey Brown.
