Welcome to WNWBAYDN? for 2022. This where we chat about about our regional brews. For the purposes of this thread we generally consider the NW to be Alaska, Oregon, Washington, and Northern Idaho (the panhandle). Drink 'em wherever, but they should be from here. Thanks for a fun 2021 thread! Let's go!

I'm starting with a Matchless Overdrive Undia Red Ale.

Had a nice Backpack Brigade IPA at Georgetown earlier, now sharing a Barrel Aged Udder Chaos from the Ram in Kent.

Uh, India, not Undia. New year, I'm still the same old dummy head with fat fingers.

Went to work the early a.m. shift. Got off work early enough in the afternoon to hit Brick West before the scads of anti-mask Bro Boys had shown up, and tried their new stout, Luna Maria:

    Very, very roasty.

Courtesy of Mrs. Vurt and @vurt , a can of Baerlic Jim Parker's Winter Warmer. I still miss that dude.

It’s gonna be a good night. At my brother in laws. His dad taught him well...12 bodhizafas in the fridge (and he doesn’t drink). Well, 10 in the fridge now. Cheers and be safe my fellow BAers!

We were late for your birthday and just missed Christmas, but we're happy you have a couple to drink for NYE. Cheers, my friend.

My last new taproom For the year is P-nut. I'd have (nice) things to say about the ambience if the beers weren't so spectacular. I can't think of a brewery that does such a variety of lagers with such degree of precision as flawlessly , and such a clear focus on drinkability. Stripped down but not austere, simple but with daring intent. Wow. Hats off to the Kempers!

Ferment Barleywine, aged in French oak wine barrels:

Looks like a New Year's Eve beer to me. And to Mrs. vurt.

Also: High fives to Ferment for including a pull-strip under the wax cap. You pull on that, the whole wax top comes away, and there's the bottle cap. Excellent.

Started non-PNW with a Radeberger Zwickel then a 2011 Tilquin Gueuze with the better half. Now going more local with a Fort George Magnetic Fields over Japanese hot pot.

That’s a burly glass of barleywine!

Question: What are the red things in the pasta? I say peppers, but my wife says tomatoes.

I think it might a pretty small glass. MOAS is in 500 mL bottles these days.

How's the 2011 Tilquin? I've got one last bottle from their first year that I've been saving for some reason.

@vurt, that's an excellent barleywine. Many thanks to @jason_nwx for the recommendation around turkey day again!

It's a Bleu cheese Mac & cheese. Those are red Korean peppers, if I remember correctly. Moderately spicy. It goes really well with the MoaS.

True. It's a five ounce glass. Splitting two bottles among four adults.

I haven't had many comparable beers lately, but I loved it, and so did the better half, who isn’t as much of a beer lover. Dry and light yet complex. Beautiful stuff.

Magnetic Fields was great, but sometimes you just want something bitter and clear. Sunrise OPA hits the spot.
