Project Find the Limit from Tree House. This is a special beer. As much as I expect greatness from them, it's still amazing how they consistently deliver. Cheers!

[IMG] Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup starts off the year with a fantastic lineup!

    1) Sam Adams Alpine Lager (5.5%): A Zwickelbier-style beer from Boston that has flavors of candied mandarin orange, buttery and salty bread for a malty finish.
    versus
    2) Surly Hell Lager (5.0%): A Zwickelbier-style beer from Minnesota that has flavors of lemonflower with a dry yeasty and pale malt finish.

    3) Toppling Goliath Pseudo Sue (5.6%): A hazy pale ale from Iowa brewed with Citra hops for strong flavors of green flowers and citrus. Simple but dynamic.
    versus
    4) Alpine Beer Co Nelson (7.0%): An IPA from California brewed with Citra and Nelson Sauvin hops for flavors of orange citrus, pulp, gooseberry, and cantaloupe melon flavors.

    5) New Glarus Gyrator Doppel (7.3%): A doppelbock from Wisconsin that has flavors of brown bread, nuts, toffee, and caramel. A strong body for the finish.
    versus
    6) Founders Dirty Bastard (8.5%): A Scotch Ale from Michigan that has flavors of scotch, syrup/molasses, and dark fruits. Strong alcohol and scotch.
(All 3 out 3 pairs correctly matched blind)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    2) Surly Hell Lager:
This is an all-time favorite. It has fantastic lemonflower and yeast flavors. If you haven't tried this one yet, you need to. Possibly the best summer beer.

    3) Toppling Goliath Pseudo Sue: This one edges out the win with the green citrus and flower flavors. Characteristic and unique. Nelson is good and similar too, but a bit sweeter.

    5) New Glarus Gyrator Doppel: This one gets the win for the lighter body and less alcohol. Nice brown bread and nuts. Drinks like a well-made brown ale.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you tried Sam Adams Alpine Lager or Surly Hell and what did you think?
Have you tried Alpine Brewing Nelson IPA and do you think it deserves the World-Class rating?
Have you tried New Glarus Gyrator Doppel and what did you think?

Well, just got thoroughly meh'd by Wheel of Time Season 1. But as a book reader, I'm not the target audience. More beer before tomorrow's stretch of abstinence begins!

...Nelson Sauvin dominant IPA...doesn't do the hop justice...it get's a bit better as it warms up, but it's still a fair effort at best...

Torrside have a fine art designer for their labels but with this collaboration with Black Iris -Bury Me in Smoke, they didn’t do the labels, & by the time they realised when they were sent the cans, they were missing they also realised what they had considered a ‘Smoked Brown’ Black Iris labelled a ‘smoked IPA’ & dated it as an IPA and that is how we got here
