How about posting alerts on beers you've reviewed?

Maybe this has been covered many times before, but I get alerts on stuff I'll never respond to (sorry, I'll never travel 1,000 miles for some beer festival). I would like to learn how other beer drinkers like brews I've reviewed.

Reviews are all I do. So, is it possible to get updates when someone else samples a concoction I've passed judgment on? There may be a way that I don't know about. Please enlighten me.

Great idea, but this doesn't currently exist. We'd need to design a follow system for breweries and beers first, and then somehow hook activity into the forum's alert system.

On the one hand, this is a cool idea, and I like it very much.

On the other hand... image someone who has reviewed a ton of beers. Then imagine how many alerts that person will receive. It would easily become overwhelming. As such, I think this alert system would need to be a segregated flag. Otherwise all the other alerts would be lost in the jungle.

As an example, just one beer, Founder’s Breakfast Stout. I reviewed it February 2012. Since then there have been about 1700 reviews. That’s roughly 1 alert every other day. Granted, this is the most reviewed beer in the database, and a great many beers have only been reviewed by a few folks.

As with many great ideas, this needs a little finesse as it is developed.
