Made some changes/deletions/additions from last year (Junebaby, Salare and Lucinda removed due to sexual harassment allegations shutting it all down. Added Wheelie Pop, Halcyon and Ladd & Lass Brewing as the new batch of breweries. Added Watershed Pub)

NOTE: Washington State still has a mask mandate and is following continued Covid restrictions. Proof of vaccination is required for indoor dining/drinking. Some places are sticking with take-out only. Please be considerate and thoughtful when visiting.

Many of us agree that this forum could use an easily searchable/bump-able "I'm visiting Seattle, where should I go?" thread. Here, I'll attempt to cull the consensus "must-hits," along with other highly recommended Seattle breweries, brewpubs, bottle shops & beer bars that appear in this type of BA thread. Locations that offer crowler fills are included. Recommendations & suggestions are encouraged.

Unlike some other states, Washington has incredibly lenient growler laws. There are some exceptions, but if it's a clean sealable container you can probably have it filled with beer.

I have a Layover at SeaTac Airport. Where can I get a Beer?
Unlike Portland, the beer options at SeaTac are slim. You should be able to find standard offerings from Bale Breaker, Black Raven, Airways and Fremont alongside Pyramid, Red Hook, Mac and Jacks and the regular airport fare like Sam Adams and Bud Light. There is nowhere that sells bottles or cans to go in the airport and no one offers growler fills. Seriously, PDX is way better when it comes to beer. These are your best options for a pint before your flight.

I flew a couple times in the second half of 2021 so this list is based on what I saw as well as the input from others and SeaTac's website:

Africa Lounge – Main Terminal (A gates)
    Seattle Beer Union (A gates)
    Brew Stop Social (Main Terminal)
Sports Page Pub – Main Terminal (D gates)
Beecher's Beer and Wine (C Gates)
Ballard Beer Hall - D Gates
Trail Head BBQ Bar (Main Terminal)
Floret by Cafe Flora -- Main Terminal (A Gates)
    Tap & Pour -- A Gates and S Gates
    Mountain Room Bar
    Skillet - N Gates
Alaska Lounge -- Probably has the best beer selection at the airport, but you have to pay to get in or be a member.

SeaTac International Airport isn't in the city, and there really isn't much directly around the airport. These are your best bets if you want to go for a walk.
13 Coins - Across the street from the airport and open 24 hours a day.
Sharps Roasthouse - Two blocks from the airport.

You could hop on light rail and do a quick hit of SoDo or Downtown. If you have a car there is a Total Wine in Tukwila as well as a PCC Community Market in Burien. Or Super Deli Mart in West Seattle. HOWEVER! Your absolute best bet for beer near the airport is Burien Press Coffee. Seriously. This little coffee shop has a killer selection of draft, cans and bottles that you're not expecting them to carry. I cannot recommended Burien Press highly enough. There's also a brewery in Burien, called Logan.

Oh, one random note about the airport. Back in July there was a gift shop out at the North Satellite that was selling incredibly overpriced six packs of Ghostfish (gluten free brewery) IPA cans. That's the first time I've ever seen packaged beer for sale at SeaTac.

Great work! I live in town, and this even gives me a few new places to check out. One small suggestion: any possibility of adding neighborhoods to the location-specific listings, possibly as an italicized addition or an additional parenthetical? E.g.,

    Reuben's Brews (kid friendly) Ballard
    Holy Mountain Brewing (21+) Interbay
    Fair Isle (21+) Ballard

I can see a complaint that it clutters things a bit, and in some cases it can be a bit ambiguous, but I think it's helpful for planning purposes. I'd be happy to help if I can!

I'd be cool adding that, but only mods can edit posts after 15 minutes (a stupid draconian rule this place has always utilized) so we'd need to make a list for John to change.

Thanks. I'm at work today, so I'm not sure how quickly I can make the update, but probably it will be by sometime this afternoon.

Regarding grocery stores, have you been to a Whole Foods lately? The beer selection there is not what it once was. At least for Roosevelt and Interbay, I would say the beer selection is not much better than a Fred Meyer. Maybe worse.

Instead I would suggest listing Metropolitan Market and the Town and Country Market chains (Ballard Market, Central Market) instead. They seem to have a much better local selections and beer buyers that actually care about quality local products.

I haven't been to the Bellingham WF since the Before Times, but I've heard folks say similar things about the one up here.

This is also true down in the Portland area. Amazon's ownership seems to have killed the craft variety they carry.

I have been super impressed by Fair Isle's stuff so far. They are very underrated.

Whole Food's beer selection up here went downhill before the Amazon purchase. Honestly, when they got rid of Joel and lumped beer in under the wine buyer and started carrying Bud Light was when it took a dive.

Holy Mountain will not be having an in-person anniversary party again this year. They did bring back online ordering for bottles and cans, so keep an eye on their social media and webpage.

They're open and tapping beers, but it's not the standard crazy anniversary party like the past. Where people would camp out in a booth all day long waiting for the next rare beer to be tapped. Just a couple kegs at the beginning of the day and thats it.

    1. Peddler Brewing is shutting down in March. Another brewery will be taking over the space, but it hasn't been officially announced yet.

    2. Mirage signed a lease on a space in Georgetown.

A nice local news segment about Lucky Envelope brewing. Certainly my favorite Seattle brewery. Their flagship Eniac IPA is a solid Mosaic IPA that I highly recommend.

I had the Water Tiger IPA on Saturday night and really enjoyed it. Lucky Envelope isn't my favorite brewery, but they make really good solid beers that definitely go under the radar.

Bickerson's Brewing from Renton is taking over the Peddler building in Ballard. Best of luck to them, they're gonna need it.
