Galaxy DDC is more than good - IMHO - it has several layers to it that are beguiling, everything from the floral, to the dank, to the (yes) cat pee notes, and then it goes mango bitter in moments. Fantastic beer. One of these and I'm on the moon.

Ugh. Now am gonna have to pick it up.

ive been less than impressed with the recent iterations of Double Daisy. At some point, they turned it into a haze bomb and completely changed the beer.

But I’m a sucker for galaxy anything, so I’ll give this one a go.

Wish HA would do an all galaxy pale ale.

So...I tried Galaxy Double Daisy Cutter. Mostly b/c my favorite person I'll probably only ever meet once, @eppCOS said it was really good.

    Visually...it's hazy "AF". Completely opaque.

However, the taste is more balanced; there's a pine bitterness along with grapefruit notes.

For me, who'd rather have just about anything but a bitter IPA*, it wasn't ideal...but if you like the beers where Half Acre walks the line between New England, West Coast and their own midwest style IPA, I bet you'll like it. Just ignore the haze, bro.

EDIT: *and right now, that means some sort of arcane dark lager than a NE IPA, for the record.

You are too kind, sir, although don't write me off completely (yet) - as long as Chicago still sits on Lake Michigan.... I shall return! Cheers, man, and p.s. I also love dark lagers.

I wonder if half acre does some can conditioning, or if it’s logistics (or both). The galaxy DDC was canned 12/23 when I picked it up on the 30th.

They probably had the release date planned and wanted the beer out of the tank. Maybe some QC testing after canning before releasing, but canning on the 23rd to release it on the 29th seems pretty reasonable.

I believe HA holds beer for 3/4 days during lab testing, before it gets approved for sales

it’s a hoppy 3% beer. Do you value low cal beer?

I’ll have another can later this weekend to confirm, before I say anything. I don’t want to ruin the beer for those enjoying it

Yeah. Totally agree. This beer is a completely slushy, muddy, mess.

They completely ruined one of their best beers by making a dirty…something ale.

If they’re just gonna make fully triple saturated daisy cutter, im out on all future DDC.

Here’s what this beer looked like in 2016. It was was so clean, and the galaxy hops were the star of show.

I’m going to blame this on galaxy hops.
I’ve had lot of world class IPA from HA, some clear, others hazy. I get a certain tasting note from bad galaxy beers that just makes me got nuts remembering how insanely good galaxy hops used to be. I’ve tasted a lot of bad galaxy over the last 4 or 5 years. The onion/scallion/diesel thing is okay, and I can deal with. But this other flavor is brutal and instant drain pour. If anybody remembers Render the Phat by Hop Butcher & Weldwerks, you might remember what I’m getting at here

Technically, these are different beers. The previous clear version was Galactic Double Daisy Cutter. The hazy releases the past 2 years have been Galaxy Double Daisy Cutter. I do agree that I prefer Galactic of the two, it was always one of my favorites from them.
