I used to drink Spotted Cow every time I was in WI and would always bring some home with me because I loved it. But then I didn't have one for a couple years and when I eventually had it again wondered what the hell happened to the beer. Never knew until now that they had changed the recipe. I suspected as much, and have told people the last couple years that it's not the same and they had to have changed the recipe and no one has believed me. I feel oddly vindicated now.

If you're near Racine and not driving right past it to get Luigi's in Kenosha you're doing it wrong

It's nowhere near as good as the original. But the reason to go to the original was actually the ribs and not the pizza

I've had both, like 'em both, like Wells better.

Now that you mention it, I remember that -- but there were (are?) a couple other spots for ribs I liked better.

Remember Tamarack? And the one that was ubiquitous at the Wisc. State Fair... it'll come to me.

    Saz's!

Random fun fact, Luigi's is owned (at least it was when I was a kid and lived there) by two identical twin brothers who married two identical twin sisters, and their kids looked identical too, which is science I suppose

Yeah they weren't the best ribs in town or anything, but for a pizza place they were damn good. Pitch's on Humboldt was solid too

I've never even had Wells but in Kenosha we never pass up a chance to assert our objective superiority to anything Racine

Oh hey it looks like you are talking about Kenosha pizza and misspelled Valeo's. :stuck_out_tongue:

My dad's whole family lived there and most still do. Just went to see grandma a few weeks ago and made sure to get some rib tips from Hillery's

Mine too, but most have moved away (or other circumstances).

Love Hillery's tips, but my wife isn't a fan. But Louie's had some good ribs, too -- along the lines of Pizza Man. Nothing award winning, but good.

Not until you've been to Big Ed's in Waukegan (yeah, it's Illinois, but still Midwest -- and they have a great tap selection!).

Why are their baby backs "imported?"

Unless they mean imported from Illinois.

I’ll keep saying it, make Two Women a retired seasonal to bring back later and Make Hometown Blonde or Yokel the flagship. I don’t even care if they just switch the recipes and keep the name so Deb can be continue pushing her girl power stuff. Two Women is really good, but they are a few other lagers I’d love to drink year round. I drink local lager usually, but I’d be drinking a lot less if Hometown Blonde was a year round product.
