Maybe it's the dry January's that people are doing. Or it could be that volume deals like this aren't moving the needle for the trader that has the rare bottle?

I am not convinced beer trading on BA is actually still a “thing” anyway

While this statement is DEFINITELY true, I think it’s also because with BA you have a much smaller trading community than FB, and generally the demand doesn’t meet the supply. Or rather, everyone wants the same big bottles, but only a few people (many of whom already have access to said bottles) have the adequate anchors to make an attractive offer.

Hear a lot of complaining, but let’s face it, there aren’t many people out there who want quantity for quality trades (ie the “fantasy football trade” effect). And that is especially true with easily acquired and less desired bottles/breweries like MT & BL (obviously w/ a few exceptions), ABC, Lost Abbey, Horus, etc etc, no matter their actual MSRP cost. Might be difficult to hear/accept, but it’s not difficult to infer

It hasn’t always been this way. A few years back, a new post would get bumped off the first page by new post in a couple of hours. This used to be a great website to trade anything. I’ve never had a Facebook account, and never will. That’s why the decline of this website is so disappointing…

The smaller trading community is due to the garbage moderation and rules here over the last 10 years. Facebook and reddit groups were around when ba was a great place to get trades done, they pushed the people here away themselves.

I think there are a multitude of reasons for the trade forums here being a shell of its former self but the totalitarian way this place is run sure has not helped.
