Have to say the new Monkish WCIPA is pretty solid

really hoping for an IN-PERSON Monkish 10th Anniversary beerfest this year … after their 8th they were saying the next one would be offsite to accommodate more people and have more site … looking forward to it!

Might be some time again with the shitshow that is now in what, round 3 or 4? These fucking variants sound like the adjuncts of the pandemic. surprised no one has named a beer after said items.

Did anyone notice Monkish teasing a Whiskey barrel in their story yesterday? Looks like it said Anchorage, 1/21/21. Any ideas?

They dropped a double barrel Anchorage collab barleywine last year around this time. Wouldn’t be surprised if a triple barrel version is upcoming.

I'm going to be visiting the Anaheim location on Thursday and looking for any recommendations for good food in the area. Did a little research and the Anaheim Packing House comes up often and is basically next door to the brewery. Worth it?

They’ve got plenty to choose from. Umami burgers is right next door to Monks garden. Been once a long time ago and thought it was underrated. Down the block is Modern Times LeisureWorld with vegan menu. I’ll have to admit I’m not a vegan kind of guy but them burgers are better than Umami’s. But on the pricey side. In between Monks & Leisureworld you also have Unsung Brewing (decent to good) and next to Unsung is Jav’s BBQ. Been a couple of times and would recommend. But like I said you have many different choices inside the Packing House.

I've eaten at a number of spots in the packing house and have not been disappointed. like @dcgunman said, a wide variety of different food in there. There are almost unlimited hole in the wall taquerias around too that are great. tacos gallos loco is closeby and i've hit that one numerous times.

Want to add that there is a small strip mall next to the gas station/car wash across the street. There is a fast food-ish Indian place that I had a while ago that was pretty good. I've always felt like many of the Monkish beers have paired well with Indian food. I'm not Indian myself, so not an expert on it.

Why don't you explore your horizons? the opinions of others will be in favor of something they enjoyed rather. just my 2 cents. it's like me rediscovering ipa's all over again. Some were shit and I listened to others and still remained somewhat the same then i looked further into them and realized hey, there are several options.

I realize its now Saturday but I personally like grabbing a burrito or a couple tacos from CaliTacos in Orange before heading up there. Insanely filling for what it costs and delicious to boot.

That being said if you want food immediately around Monkish, the Packing District is a 2 minute walk from Monkish and has a nice variety of food to choose from. It can be a bit pricey, but generally speaking its worth it.

A block or so away is Tony's deli and bottle shop, its a deli sandwich place that's also pretty solid if you're in the mood for that.

Surprised this thread has been quiet for so long. It's Monkish's anniversary this week. Up first is a triple IPA and a cognac BA quad

Holding out on some more anniversary offerings making it onto the shipping page so I can put in an order later this week. Should get here just in time for my birthday, as if I needed an excuse...

I was going to hit up the Anaheim location after CAL. But we got soaked and needed to dry out. So we ended up heading home. I got a can of PokeMonk I’ll open and celebrate. Cheers.

Looks like I snuck in my order right before FXGGY sold out. Excited to try the JXVIAL IPA with vanilla beans.

Had some of the FXGGY yesterday and thought it was decent. The quad was really unbalanced, which is a shame as I was really looking forward to it. The pilsner they just brewed, though, is fantastic

I was bummed that by the time I showed up yesterday the pilsner cans were already gone, it was just on tap, but man that was a good one.
