Its a great Nelson beer and unfortunately my last one...

 

My wife had same as you from 2nd shing shot. Pretty much nuttin' at all but I was a dish rag.

Tuesday night and it already feels like it’s been a very full work week…hence a few beers and a burger. Three deep, drinking an other half “stacks on stacks” iipa. Maybe it’s my imagination but these DC brewed cans are good, only falling short of the Brooklyn brewed products. Apologies for the (typically) lousy picture.

 

It was worth it though - a guy I work with, his wife got shingles in her ear and has permanent pain from it that they can't do anything about. He's the one who convinced me that I needed to get the shingles shot so I wouldn't have to deal with the effects of shingles. After hearing the story of what his wife deals with daily I got my shot within days.

 

One of my favorite recipes of hers is the sausage, spinach, mushroom tortellini. Always is amazing. The Hellcats MST3K is on TV.


Victory Heavy Drop. It's been in my fridge for almost 2 years. BB 6/23/2020. This was great. Lasting fluffy head retention and foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, red apple, white grape, mango, melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, pepper, pine, wheat, bread, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; and acidic tang/tartness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, medium body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts, sticky hops, some resins, and light acidity in the mouthfeel. Increasing resin dryness with no astringency. Very smooth, nicely soft, minimal warming 7.2%. Great Mosaic and Simcoe profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and dank hops; with a clean wheat/oats backbone. Not seeing any lacto funk in here, assuming they just used the acid malt for the tartness. Otherwise it's a great IPA. More west coast than NE IMO. No complaints. This held up amazingly well. 4.03

On the eve of @Knapp85 and @PhineasMcClintock converging here in the Indoor Beer Garden tomorrow night, this big beer will take awhile to work through and therefore will also be my closer tonight. I have a feeling tomorrow night will get waist deep in some serious liquid shah.

That second Shingles shot was a bear for me. Having had it ( shingles ) about 7 years ago, I would still take the shot. What was funny is I remember asking my VA Doc about it & she told me I was too young for the shot, less than a year later I had Shingles

 

A friend of ours almost lost her left eye. She was far younger than I.

 

Hump Day festivities?! Sounds like a full night of beer slaying going down.

Wow - with a name like shingles you wouldn't think it was that serious but I've heard some real horror stories and you just added to the list. Maybe they should call it shit-hits-the-fan. Glad to hear you got the vax, I know I didn't ever want to go through that. Cheers!

Yeah, by the time I was diagnosed there was nothing they could do for me, but tough it out. Just remember real intense burning & itching up & down my back & neck

A perfect beer on the coldest day and night of the year. I really appreciate this beer. Not a big BA stout guy but this is outstanding. I know where there are more because this is my last one. Hope they have them still because this is very good for me because the sweet is in check
