    Spot on. We all contribute in our own ways to make this site better and hopefully to make the beer community better. Some do it more quietly than others. I'm sure very few of you know who I am, but I've "contributed" a fair amount to this site over the years.

    But if someone wanted to give me a Nobel Prize for my contribution to beer....

    I’m going to address this thread one final time, against my better judgement.

    I’m going to do so for those of you who have read through it and been confused by the few users who refuse to understand what the intentions of the original post were and are.

    This was never about a popularity contest as a few of you have referred to it as.

    The OP never mentioned an exercise or polling or voting any one particular person as your honorary BA of the century or whatever some particular users have chosen to frame this as.


    I wrote this post to be a very structured, numbers and statistics based exercise, meant to recognize those that have spent the most time and energy contributing to this site in the ways that help each of us daily. Forum posts, added beers, pictures, you get the picture. (And if you don’t you’re being combative for no reason and everyone sees that but you).

    This is not a high school Prom King vote. This is a numbers based “what energy have you put into the site?” style recognition ceremony.

    I for one, feel it is important to show appreciation for those who make this site easier and more fun/informative for me to use everyday. That is what this post was all about. I’m not sure if some of you are worried you would not be recognized or what exactly scares you so much about giving other people their flowers but at the end of the day, I think most of us are thinking that you’ve down right taken the fun out of something very innocent in nature.

    Maybe I’m completely off base but after reading through this entire thread twice, this is how I feel.

    We've never met, but I must say, I'm very thankful for your beer database contributions to my area. It's annoying having to repeatedly add new beers, or being the sole reviewer of a beer. It makes me happy when you've beaten me to either of those two points. Thank you for your contributions.

    Once BA and UT fell under the same family umbrella, it didn't make sense to have different names anymore.

    After having gone over this thread twice I still like this idea/post
    I always like @Shanex and @JamFuel for their posts,I get to see different places which is always interesting.
    @LarryV for his music contributions
    @SawDog505 and @DoctorZombies posts are great when im stuck at my office but I get to see their early posts.
    When someone like @MacMalt does a review its great as its usually beer or establishments i have access to.
    There's much to acknowledge and appreciate here

    Locking this one down now, but wanted to thank you for starting this thread and clarifying the idea for everyone. I agree, this should be driven by the numbers versus a popularity contest driven by a handful of users all nominating the same handful of users.

    I'm definitely not opposed to the idea, and agree that it's important to show appreciation (here and everywhere else in life), but I'll be giving it a bit more thought. Updates to follow...
