Bought this one partially because of the great looking can. Victoria Cempasúchil. This was a special Day of the Dead release, hence the tagline "The taste of reunion." As best I can tell it's made with Marigold flavoring/coloring.

Overall this is decent. There is some perfume-like aroma that is both pleasant and off-putting. The flavor has a sweetness and juice-like quality that I can't place. I taste some OJ but I wonder if it's just because my eyes are telling my brain that it's OJ. It's definitely not similar to your typical Mexi-lager. This is definitely worth a single if you see it around, although I would imagine there aren't many still in the wild given that it's January so you might have to wait until next year. Google tells me that there was some social media campaign with this beer in which you could send it your wishes to those passed - my Spanish is pretty bad so idk. Here's the blurb on the back for those interested.

The Frog Abides from Hoppin Frog. A clear yellow 9% white stout made to mimic a White Russian and has a vanilla and coffee flavor. Cheers!

I’m ending my weekly cleanse at Twin Elephant Brewing with a pour of Roast this Bone, a DIPA hopped with Belma, Mosaic, Strata, and Motueka. I’m not tastng much Motueka but the Strata shines. Jeff Spicoli would like lt. cheers!

Still enjoying my homebrewed Timothy Taylor Landlord clone, which is surprising, as I often tire of my homebrews quickly (as they typically suck).

Not one of my favorites, time to move it on out ... this one may be in the drain before all is said and done.

Oskar Blues Death By Flapjacks Porter, 6.5% ABV. Pours thin and black with a real nice 4-finger light brown head the left good lacing. Nose is maple and vanilla. Taste is maple, vanilla, nutmeg, and lemon, slightly sweet, a twinge of lemon tartness and moderate bitterness. With a name and nose like that, I had hoped for a pastry porter, but sadly, no. Decent smooth mouthfeel with a little dryness at the end. Overall very good.

Had hoped for more maple and more sweetness. But then again, I always do. Wonder if I've got some syrup....

Speaking of oysters, we have a delivery tomorrow from a local entrepreneur and his kids who drive to the coast each Friday and bring back orders in lots of 25 for those who order them. Here is hoping I do not cut my fingers again while shucking them. Must be old age but it seems if you sustain a pretty good slice on a finger tip it takes a long time to heal.
