Howdy, @Roguer - joining you early with one of this weekend's theme beers.
N/A Athletic All Out Stout, prior to a run. Need those carbs this morning.... but this is still just... not for me. The thin burnt wort-rubber taste is just... hard to get over.

Long run scheduled today, see you later! And of course.... cheers!

Full review linked. Bottom line bitter with minimal taste or aroma.

Hoping the nephew’s team salvaged one game this tournament.

In order to answer yesterday's question: no, I haven't tried the Duvel rum yet but it's definitely on my "to try" list
Here is one of the actual barrels where Duvel stored the beer in. As you can see, it was originally used by Jack Daniels before it went to Plantation, then came to Belgium and got a final resting place, at my home, where it serves as a party table.

That is one of the na beers thats most polarizing. I actually like it but totally understand a lot of people's dislike of it.
At least I hope the run went better than the beer

Warmer (62°) morning with lots of strong winds (tornado warning at 6:30am when I was getting up). Thankfully nothing now other than a mild stiff breeze…dogs/kitchen taken care of, it’s coffee time - Utopias barrel aged World Wide Stout (2021):

Bottled in 2020? Poured at 53°. A tasty take on OG WWS. Sweet fortified wine, dark fruit, caramel and oak. My review is in my log book…and I have a follow up beer…

Cloudy, rainy, cool and blustery. A great SWFL day to stay indoors…I’ll be back…Cheers y’all!

A little barrel-aged stout after watching Rope and while watching random shit waiting for NFL playoff games.

I combined one from the fridge and one from the cellar floor to get a nice temperature right away. Very tasty this morning.

It’s a tough job but sometimes you have to just dive in…to follow my Utopia’s BA WWS (2021) that I drank earlier this morning, I also pulled from my cellar (wine cooler set at 50°) an OG WWS (2010):

Bottled 2010. Purchased April 2010 in Jacksonville FL. Cellared at 50° (chiller). Poured at 53°.

First, no apparent oxidation on cap or in taste. Amazing layers of flavors - roast malt and oat; bitter char barrel notes; then - sweet dark fruit - plums and dark cherries; followed by not so sweet - figs and dates. A finish that is caramel and sweet pears with very slight alcohol bite (18%) on tip of tongue…a WC amazing beer after 10 years in the bottle!

I probably should age some Utopias BA WWS as my side by side experiment with a 10 year old WWS was perhaps unfair…but who knew until I popped the tops…onward science :sunglasses:

Cheers y’all and have a great Sunday!
