Yeah, maybe we should establish a statute of limitations here on NBW for a 'new' beer?

    Or is it statue?

    Cheers!

Prairie Double Vanilla Noir Imp Stout, 14.3% ABV; 4.25 overall

Pours an effervescent mahogany with one finger of fast falling caramel colored head. Some lacing & head retention, very viscous

S: Dark fruit, a little Bourbon, figs, nose just build as this warms

T: Dark chocolate, Bourbon, plenty of vanilla up front, a little bit of dates as well up front. Vanilla. Bourbon burn, leafy hops & dark chocolate covered coconut once warm. Finishes with caramel, vanilla, oaky dryness & a little dark chocolate

MF: Fairly chewy body, low carbonation, very warming

    Nice offering, $ 14 a 12 0unce bottle, glad I got to try it, a sipper

Ah, the weekend, with lots of playoff football and college hoops to enjoy - along with some new beers. I’m going “all Transient, all weekend” to reduce my Transient inventory a bit - it’s ….. extensive.

First up, a zwickelbier that has a clever name, and is a collab - double bonus!

This beer pours a slightly hazy golden straw color with a soapy, sudsy white head that fits the unfiltered look expected from a zwickelbier. The nose is dominated by bready aromas that are reminiscent of a spicy wheat bread. There’s also an herbal hop aroma that takes on an almost estery character.

The beady flavor is forward and delicious, with that slightly estery hop flavor on the finish that is accompanied by a crisp mouthfeel. This is a really nice zwickelbier that I’d drink on the regular if Transient offered it. Very flavorful and refreshing.

Bummer! There is nothing better than having a great butcher shop close by. I find some of the best cuts of meat at a couple of shops near where I live. Funny thing is, I'm not always paying more for those excellent cuts vs the big grocery stores.

I, too, noticed the price at my shop was very competitive with the big grocery stores plus, more importantly, the quality was nearly always superior. I'll miss that place...

    Hey, NBWers,

Skipped last week because I had nothing new on hand (I thought I did until I looked closely at my fridge), although I did find a can of Buzzsaw McThunder from a 6er purchased deep in the Covid shutdown, when everything was Take-Home. I'm guessing it was somewhere between 12-18 minths old. It was surprisingly drinkable, though definitely imbalanced by the relative die-off of hop flavors to a degree that I wouldn't recommend such aging on purpose!

Today I'm visiting Garland Brew Werks, in Spokane's funky little Garland District.
During December, they unveiled their 12 Beers of Christmas. On one of the later days, they released this, their Lords-A-Lupulin IIIPA, which clocks in at a respectable 9.3% abv.
Fruity, juicy up front, with a little alcohol heat on the back end.
Might be back with some more northside beers today.

Just looked at this thread 20 minutes ago. Just got back from a taproom run.
If I had known It was Baltic porter day I would have stopped at Indeed and tried there Baltic. But I did stopped at Fair State had a full pour of Doppelbock and Tmavé Pivo. Both new to me. I took a crowler of the doppel for home. Next I went to Anchor for fish and chips with a half and half Guinness/Smithwick's Irish Red Ale to enjoyed it with.

next Dangerous Man, had a DoppelBock and bought a crowler of Back to Black IPA (Cascadian) for home. New beer to me. And I am drinking it now.

    7.5% ABV Canned 1/18/2022, batch #1258, 26 IBU
Look: 4.5/5 Impressive head (massive, frothy) and long lasting leaving major lacing.
Smell: 4/5 Not strong aroma, pine hops, bread, roasted malt
Taste 4/5 Smooth for a IPA, mild roasted malt, a hint of chocolate, and pine hops, Not all that bitter.
feel: 4/5 ok has a malty and slightly creamy feel
Overall A solid beer but I would give it a 3.96/5 overall

L: Appears as dark brown liquid and built a nice khaki head that left a lightly laced glass.
S: Lotsa great smells here, licorice, roasted malts and cocoa.
T: All those great smells turned to flavor along with some dark molasses and caramel.
F: It seemed to be thin for a porter.
O: This was much better than expected.

Pours black with mahogany brown on the edges and a thick, creamy dark tan head that hangs around. Gorgeous beer. The nose has maple, milk chocolate, maple, some char, maple, stone fruit, a bit of booze - and did I mention maple?

There’s a LOT of maple on the nose, which fortunately didn’t translate to the taste - there’s definitely maple, and it’s definitely sweet, but there enough milk chocolate, char (crucial!), stone fruit, and booze (crucialer!) to provide balance and especially depth to this big (14.5% ABV) stout.

The mouthfeel is rich and creamy, on point for the style. Transient has a world class impy stout game, and this is another example of their prowess, IMHO.

Finally joining all of you I’m enjoying one of the funnest parts of the weekend. Well the ever courteous @snaotheus sent me some beer, a box arrived Thursday. But wait there’s more…Then today mrs phisher looks outside and says “did you get more beer mail!?” Yep, two boxes in 3 days. Everyone was happy, the boys popped all the bubble wrap and we even got dark chocolate sent our way, I love it and it’s mrs phishers absolute favorite. I’m flying solo tonight with the boys so I drank this one during bath time. First chuckanut beer for me and I really enjoyed this one (got 3 more in fridge ).

    Chuckanut - Vienna Lager

Pours beautifully, crystal crystal clear light shade of amber. Nice dense long lasting head just the slightest hint of brown to it. No lacing but great retention.

Aroma is very noticeably toasty; reminds me of freshly cut bread of of the oven; nice and malty and reminiscent of toffee.

Taste is same rich toasty bread, a nice little bit of spicy hops on the finish and a malty presence.

Mouthfeel is about perfect for me…this is light bodied but drinks nice and full. It’s is so so smooth and has such a gentle creamy carbonation. It finishes perfectly dry, just enough to notice it.

This is a very very good lager, enjoying it immensely. Cannot wait to try the rest and all the other beers @snaotheus sent me.

Hello, NBW! I'm happy to join the thread with a sense of accomplishment, having dropped off my last of nine packages this week for various BAs. Unfortunately, one of those was a re-do, when it showed up on my doorstep, soaking wet with the innards of a bottle of grisette from Garden Path unfortunately no longer on the inside of the package, with a nasty note from the USPS about introducing alcohol into the "mailstream."
I'm drinking Dear God, a double IPA from E9, which is very nice. I'm hoping to see five other people post about it in the near future.

16oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. Bought it at Special Brews about a week ago. Dated 01/07/2022.

Pours a hazy golden amber with a big, stiff head that stands at least half an inch proud of the top of the glass. Active carbonation is present, but so fine in such a hazy medium that you can barely see it. Smell is piney, lemony, with a little bit of juicy twist.

Taste is along the same lines, but leaning toward orange pith, a little bit of that creamy orange julius characteristic. Solid but not dominant resinous bitter finish.

Mouthfeel is creamy and thick without being heavy -- nicely balanced carbonation. Overall, this is really good.

I really like that beer. I've been wanting to ship a bunch of people Chuckanut beers since NBS BIF #14 started last year, but that coincided closely with them losing their original and primary location and apparently halting bottling operations entirely for a while. They've started canning a few things, and when I started seeing bottles from them again, I took the drive up there to see what I could pick up at the source.

    Glad you like it!

I figured I must have a Baltic Porter lurking somewhere in the cellar, and sure enough I found this bottle of Cozy, from Tree House. @Beersnake1 seemed to enjoy this yesterday, let's see if I have the same experience.

Tree House's description of the beer: Cozy is our Baltic Porter. Following an attentive brew day it has rested and conditioned naturally for over eight weeks. Smooth and delicious, it pours with a fluffy head and tastes of melted chocolate, mixed berries, and caramel. This beer, to us, is a triumph of flavor and character.

Pours a dark, dark brown. Really nice, dense tan colored head with good retention. Aroma is sweet malts and light chocolate. Taste is light / medium roast and some sweet chocolate that work very well together. It's relatively simple, but quite tasty. Full bodied and smooth. Nicely done beer/

All That Remains is Strata from Magnanimous Brewing, Tampa
Double Dry Hopped DIPA. 8.5 abv

Poured from an undated can yields a cloudy light caramel color with a soapy white head, nice lacing and a thin veil

Aroma of passion fruit, cannabis, some floral notes of strawberry, grapefruit and honeydew melon

Taste is incredibly layered, tropical fruit, grapefruit and melon. Underlining notes of dankness in the form of cannabis

Mouthfeel is very smooth and thick, creamy feeling. Medium carbonation and a slight bitter finish a little prickly feel on the back of the tongue at the finish. No alcohol feel despite the 8.5abv

Overall this beer is delicious, smooth drinking and nicely layered with distinct flavors

Well thank you very much again! I was bummed when I couldn't find any during our visit, you make beer dreams come true

Courtesy of @snaotheus, I didn't read your review, gonna compare after...legos all over our house too haha.

    E 9 - Dear God (IIPA)

The name on this beer made me laugh at first like "dear god, what have we done..." then I was thinking maybe it is a letter to go "dear god, ..." I guess we'll never know.

Pours murky orangey straw color, big quick forming billowy head. Settles slowly into a mountainous range of white with tons of splotchy lacing from initial head.

Aroma is a really pleasant soft fruitiness, almost reminds me of like an orange creamsicle but there is a little pineapple note in there as well.

The taste is similar to nose the most prominent flavor being an orange like creaminess. There is also a grassy pithiness to the flavor as well.

Mouthfeel medium and full body, soft mouthfeel, creamy a slight hop bite on the end. Finishes much cleaner than it looks. The slightest hint of booze, I'm very sensitive to it and I could easily see others not minding or noticing at all.

A tasty drinking hazy ipa, fruity creamy and cleaner than many others I've tried. Thanks for sharing Ryan.

Have a great NBW. Slept all day until 630 PM, but Julia woke me around lunch for about an hour. Cooked out the Aldi Stuffed Crust pizza in the oven, and waking back up by taking some dabs lol. I am really great at making pizzas, would definitely buy a pizza stone for the oven and then I can start making NY style! We need to go to the hemp store tomorrow. We started watching the Avalanche movie randomly from 1978 on shout TV. We've been just watching a lot of TV on my new 55 inch!

Last beer from a trade with @Shanex a year ago. Brasserie Corrézienne Château Du Noual. Was never added. Bottled in Jan 2020, best before June 2025. The was an awesome saison! Great fluffy head retention and foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big white grape/wine, red apple, pear, peppercorn, wood, herbal, floral, grass, pine, wheat, cracker, toasted bread; light banana, bubblegum, clove, yeast earthiness. Moderate peppery yeast spiciness; and pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness. Medium-high carbonation, medium-plus body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced bready malts, sticky hops, and light tang/tannins in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing dryness, with no cloying/astringent flavors. Minimal residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Mild increasing warmth of 6.5%, maybe a touch of barrel booze. After 6 months of Sauvignon Blanc barrel aging, it is well integrated but not overwhelming. Works perfectly well with a spot on base style example. I always love saisons. 4.1
