That makes more sense. Fingers crossed for next years I guess!

Just a guess on my part, but that number is probably going way up as more and more people catch on to the quality and buy directly from Revolution. I'd expect the number to be over 1000 points from 2021 for the 2022-2023 Deep Wood season releases.

Are you challenging me to get to 1000? I’ll do it.

On the release page at the bottom they have: "Cafe Tola will be selling food on Friday, and Arigato Market will be in the Taproom on Saturday."
    https://revbrew.com/events/deep-wood-series-release-featuring-gravedigger-billy-v-s-o-r

To add to what @Jsimansk wrote, Rev stated on their Rewards page: "Only points earned in Jan 2019- Feb 2021 go toward VIP Pre-Sale eligibility for the 2021-2022 DWS season. The top 600 points earners during this period will receive access to these perks."
Of course, I am not certain when this was written, and with releases in April and July in 2021, when does the "season" start? Is it October? Did they consider the spring and summer releases?
We can only hope @BeerCruncher will lend us his wisdom. (if he can pull himself away from making more TikTok videos :wink::grin: )

On the topic of VIP, is it just me or have the VIP benefits for 2021-22 been very light? Pre-Pandemic VIP got the taproom for an hour before the masses came in and their own line to pick up cans. Beginning of the pandemic in 2020 Rev made some insanely great single barrel one-off crowlers available to VIPs, but 2021-22, at least to me, hasn't featured much. The extra 4 pack of VSOJ last summer was really, really great but what else has there been? Am I forgetting something?

I mean, the presale benefits ...

Besides VSOJ what sold out very fast for the 2021-2022 Deep Wood releases? Even VSOJ lasted several hours with the one 4 pack limit. In the past I would agree that pre-sale benefits were big but with the increase in production almost everything is sticking around a lot longer.

I know stuff hasn't sold out as fast this year, but it's still one of the benefits of the VIP program

Also, keep in mind Rev Rewards is just a general loyalty program. Fight Club is very generous of them to provide an additional perk for regular customers, but it's not a society or membership program. I don't expect any more than the $15 credit for every $250 spent; with Revolution's prices already being pretty reasonable, I think that's great.

Didn't that happen only once though? I don't recall that being a perk for every release. And it's not needed now anyway since there is no more standing in line waiting for beer. To me, that's a perk in itself.

I think you are expecting way too much from something that is essentially free. If this was a program we had to pay extra money for I'd share your disappointment, but that's not the case. Not having to stand in line for beer and being able to secure what I want before anyone else is good enough for me.

I agree it's unfair to expect anything, but I certainly wouldn't mind an additional small perk or two. How about allowing crowlers of the one-offs for VIPs after release weekend is over?

So hard is Rev and the Chicago world mandating vax cards? Can I flash VIP status instead? :grimacing:

after all the talk recently about what a great vintage ‘21 SJ is, i decided to pick up a 4pk yesterday. cracked one tonight and wow, just incredible. so easy drinking for 15%, yet i found no shortage of barrel presence. will probably be going back for another 4pk later this week (along with more Ryeway because that’s just the best beer). crazy this sits on shelves because for the price, i’m not sure it can be beat.

Tell your kids to take advantage of those creative writing classes, and tell them that someday they can work for a brewery and post this stuff - LOL! (from FB on 1/24/2022)...

"Could be the end of the 2021-22 Deep Wood Series, but the impending return of V.S.O.R. puts us in reflective mood.

Time is a flexible, malleable sort of concept – especially lately. What were your preoccupations two years ago? Or three? Imagine everything that's gone by since then. Feels like yesterday, but also feels like forever. That whole time, every quick second and forgotten hour of it, we were letting hale and hearty American lumber do its thing to our most precious beer.

The wait is part of the plan. Alcohol extracts from scorched wood and sugars oxidize into a labyrinth of complex siderooms and antechambers. It's enough time to pick up, obsess over, and drop a new hobby. Or to get an associate's in whatever subject tickles your fancy. Or for our arachnid friend to make a tidy new home.
    But it's not negotiable.

Anyone who tells you there's a shortcut is trying to sell you something. But whatever they're selling doesn't stack up to two- and three-year barrels blended with a monk's eye for detail and a libertine's thirst for life.

We talk the concept of "barrel magic" to death, but you know it when you experience it. Something almost primal, defying easy description. In terms of V.S.O.R., we will indeed go back to that well of "whiskey," "char," "toffee," "candied nuts," and so forth because this is the 500-piece Rose Art colored pencil set that the English language gave us. But each of those individual descriptions are just markers on a matrix of highways, doing their best to describe an expanse that's bigger than we can pinpoint in shorthand. It's why, in the absence of a unifying theory of beer, wood, and the universe, "magic" is just a good a term as any after a certain point.

Very Special Old Ryeway goes on sale tomorrow morning (no, we don't announce the time) for pickups on Friday, alongside the estimable and much-missed Gravedigger Billy. We don't want to mash that blinking FOMO button here at the end of a very long and fruitful barrel-aged season, but you're going to have to wait a while for something this special to come around again."

More and more this is my conclusion...which makes me very excited for V.S.O.R.!
