Bad News: No one is getting Hawthorne. During the canning run, Kane experienced an issue with their line and wasn't able to get enough volume to fulfill orders. Good News: Kane was able to send us a replacement beer. It arrived at Half Time today. I know many of you were hoping for a Barleywine. So, here you go: Double Double Cask 15.7% | 16oz can A blend of two different Double Barrel-Aged Barleywines. The first Barleywine was aged in a Woodford Reserve Malt Whiskey barrel for over 20 months, then finished in a combination of Weller and Blanton Bourbon casks for close to a year. The second Barleywine was first aged in an Armagnac puncheon for close to two year, then finished in a blend of Heaven Hill Rye and Sazerac Rye casks. Each beer was cold-conditioned in stainless, and then blended together to create this Double Barrel-Aged Barleywine. Yeah. Big THANKS to Michael Kane and crew for stepping up to make this happen! And thanks again to everyone for your patience and understanding.
This just keeps getting better and better and better. A 15.7% double barrel-aged barleywine!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well that was a rollercoaster of emotions! That was the one I was looking forward to most. Crushing blow. The replacement sounds better! Woohoo!
It's like being told you had a $100K winner on a lotto ticket - and then the Lottery Director calls you and tells you, "Sorry, there was a glitch - you've won $1 million instead." Seriously, this is the greatest.
Sounds like they didn't lose all of it. Hopefully some lucky folks get to enjoy what's left. It sounds amazing.
I'd say this is better news than the Dogfish thread. These changes right at the finish line kind of make it a fun beer roulette game where we all still win, kind of, maybe?
KANE: We had production issues so here is an equal (if not better) brew. DFH: We drank all the BBA WWS "from my personal stash" on New Year's Eve so we will skim distributor warehouses to send you some 120 Minute. Still love ya Sam and this will not negatively affect my future DFH purchases but I just can't let you off that easy.
I would have loved to try the first beer, but I think I may be looking forward to this one even more.
Would be nice if we could be those lucky folks to enjoy what’s left if they were able to get any cans canned. It did sound pretty amazing
