I'm still not clear on how their prices are determined. King of Darkness and ADwtD TO were $100, Wendigo, Blessed, and the latest Barleywine/stout blends have all been listed around $50, with all their other big beers (that I'm aware of?) falling around $30. ADwtD and Blessed to some degree (arguably) justify their prices by their reputation, but I'm guessing the other $50+ beers are more expensive to produce? They're obviously already quite expensive at $30/bottle so anything above that really need to do a lot to justify that hefty of a pricetag.
My only guess is this $53 bottle uses flavor additive ingredients that would boost the cost. Is that worth $3, or is that Anchorage/Tavour trying to not take a hit? Hard to tell. Either way, I'm out. Waiting and hoping for ADWTD Triple Oaked. I'll determine if any more of their work is worthwhile after I have tried one of my bottles. FWIW, one of their latest releases they distinctly said it was not Open Up More with adjuncts, but the reviews said otherwise. Not worth a $53 gamble for me. @DokiDokiLitFam
Neither am I. King of Darkness came out at 100 while Blessed came out at 50 both times. It's a head scratcher. Blessed has adjuncts and barrel aging involved whereas KoD is just barrel aged and it's double the price. I haven't tried my KoD yet, but I'd bet dollars to donuts it isn't better than Blessed. I was wondering if it was Tavour as well. It would seems like a good business decision on Anchorage's part to stay within an adjunct "budget" and keep the price steady instead of throwing more into a brew and slightly raising the price. Tavour might have some internal analytics and they might be seeing a drop off because of the glut of big boys that Anchorage has released recently. Tavour might be trying to recoup by throwing three bucks on top to hedge against a decline that they're seeing. The only definitive way to find out is to ask the people who buy in person, if the prices went up. I don't want to sound like an Anchorage apologist, but it does make more sense coming from Tavour's end.
FWIW my last crate got lost, Tavour said it was the local service, local service blamed Tavour. It's a shit show. Good luck getting your beer.
Damn..makes me think the delivery company is f'in with you.. I wonder why Tavour doesn't just have ups and fed ex pick up their boxes?
I am suffering through a bad experience with Tavour. I got a random email that my crate was ready to close. I don’t remember the last time I even looked at purchasing bottles. I searched my email to see when this bottle was available and I can’t seem to find it. they are telling me it will cost me 50% to restock the item that I never selected. This is the second time in almost 2 years something like this has happened to me. I am fighting to it pay this money for this beer that I don’t want. I am likely going to have to deactivate my account to prevent this from happening again. Please be aware of this.
I think that’s what is so irritating. I could see accidentally buying 1 of these because the Quantity 1 is the default. But you have to actively push the #6 and approve it. Just really fishy
All of these experiences are reminding me why I left the platform in '20. May go that way again. So much good local beer, and only a handful of breweries I enjoy pop up on the app. If they're raising prices on those breweries, however subtle, it would definitely spell the end for my use of the app. TBH, the only reason I rejoined was to lurk if they released any ADWTD TO. But based on how Mother of all Storms released in my area, I'm never seeing ADWTD.
I wasn't on the app at the time. There was also a time they lost their local MO courier, so I was ineligible to join for awhile.
Good news! Abraxas is available for the only the seventh time in the last two months! Just in case you happened to be busy the last six times it was available.
Update - they are saying that I purchased these bottles on Jan 2 while I was at a funeral (not looking at my phone). Their customer service is shitty.
That's really crazy...and crappy. I guess I'm lucky that I haven't had any issues. I am definitely getting worried that my time is coming...
Yea, I am done after this current box I have open. I don't need the extra stress @Bshaw22 is dealing with in my life.
