    'Evening all! Let's get this new thread started, shall we?

    It's Friday evening here after two days of summer storms, with rain coming in sideways and lightning striking the street just down the road from us. Still in the high 20s/low 30s (80s and 90s for those of you stuck in the dark ages measurement-wise) as the rain falls, though. I love a good summer storm!

    I also love a good Saison, and this one was Saison d'Erpe-Mere, from Brouwerij de Glazen Toren (presumably "glass bull") in Belgium. It's pretty laid back for a Saison. There's the usual spiciness but it's dialled down to a background note that blends well with the yeast character and a subtle, lemony, chardonnay-like body. At 6% it's also an easy drinker compared to many Belgian beers, which means for once I could have more than one if I wished. I did wish, but my common sense said no.

    I'd say it's a great start to the weekend, but I'm on the last few days of a seven-week holiday so it's either a great start to the beginning of the end of my break, or a great finish to the end of the beginning. Now I'm just confused.

    Also drinking a Belgian NEW beer to me that’s a Tripel from Brasserie Dubuisson…

    10,5% ABV. That’s something even for a tripel. It’s somewhat sweet with a dry finish, nicely balanced bit clovey, fairly refreshing.

    Another winner for Belgium. I dig tripel in lack of proper stouts here.

    Tripels are awesome. They were the first beers I could properly taste when my taste came back and have remained a favourite ever since. The Trappist versions are particularly good and I assume you can get your hands on them fairly regularly, which makes me jealous!

    We get Westmalle, Gouden Carolus, Karmeliet, Chimay and St Bernardus tripels basically everywhere for ~2€ the bottle.

    Good morning BAs! The trial I was going to monitor settled last night, so back home I go today. Packing up and trying a new “juice” - “Goon Squad”, a Juicy Hazy DIPA, by Brew Hub:

    Canned 1/21/22. Poured at 50°. Not very hazy and definitely not full or fluffy. Orange aroma and taste. Some alcohol bite from 9.8% abv. Seems like a normal TIPA, which is fine by me. See y’all again in about 4-5 hours. Cheers!

    I totally agree with @TheIPAHunter in that the DDH version is massively better than the OG (not something I say often about DDH versions of anything). In fact I think that this particular batch is even better than the original release I had enjoyed at their brewery a few years ago.
