Took a half day to run some errands before the storm rolls in…grocery, bakery, etc (etc means the good bottle shop). Watching the flurries come down with this lovely number.

Can’t say I’d mind being in sunny Taipei right about now.

Went over to Egan’s for lunch. Kane Shell King. Say what you will, Simcoe, Amarillo, and Chinook still have plenty of game. [IMG]

I'm assuming that's incredibly expensive for a beer over there? You guys are way ahead of us in terms of stadium beers. We'll have one full-strength and one mid-strength macro offering available even in a 100,000 seat stadium like the Melbourne Cricket Ground, due to sponsorship tie-ups, and it'll not be a good macro either! It'll also be incredibly expensive.

I was blown away when I went to Petco Stadium in San Diego in 2018 and there were craft offerings as far as the eye could see.

Hope you packed your ear plugs!

    Cheers!

Good afternoon BA's and happy Friday! Missed y'all yesterday as i was at our local bottle shop in Hendersonville with some friends enjoying an Aslin tap takeover plus a couple of other goodies including Abraxas! Hope everyone in the Northeast stays safe and warm! For us in Western NC we will be getting some snow flurries and high winds overnight, but nothing compared to my east coast brothers!

Today's first choice is what i consider an English IPA out of the Costco Advent pack from Germany. I was not expecting much but i am totally appreciating the nice apple-pear hop infusion! Been a minute since i have had this style.

Da Boss is spinning her Amazon mix today and cannot recall hearing this tune before, it was quite striking even though not even close to my usual wheelhouse!
    Cheers!

Elevation Beer Co. Coconut Oil Man Imperial Stout aged in Bourbon barrels found in my travels this morning. A respectable 10.8% with moderate coconut and a hint of bourbon. It's quite good!

    Revisited January 28th, 2022

Golden yellow body, mildly hazy; fantastic, slow-rising carbonation; thick, white, sculpted head, fairly dense and sticky; light rings of foam encircle the glass. Outstanding citrus aroma; orange and white grapefruit; faint note of malt. Prominent bitterness in the taste; moderate citrus presence, lemon, pineapple and grapefruit; mild biscuit-like malt flavor. Moderately heavy body; alcohol dryness with a light citrus bite.

This sample is not much different from my 2020 review. Strong bitterness is to the fore with a nice, rounded citrus profile.

Original June 18th, 2020 ratings and review

    4.75 4.5 4.75 4.5 4.5 (overall 4.62)

Mildly hazy, nearly clear gold body; superb carbonation; head is thick, soapy, sticky, and lasting; subsequent pour from the can leaves and denser, creamier head. Pungent and dank aroma; pine and citrus notes duking it out with some floral suggestions. Outstanding mild malt sweetness; bold hop resinous nips the tongue; honey; boozy undercurrent. Heavy body; soft and pillowy nature offset with a sharp alcohol presence; lightly sticky; comes across as dry overall.

A surprise local purchase, canned 06/03/20. The beer's appearance and even taste reminds me more of a bold west coast IPA than a New England styled beer. If it is in fact a true NEIPA styling, then I wish more brewers would lean towards this direction. Regardless, this is a most satisfying beer.

On to round 2, Bell's Third Coast Old Ale. This always seemed to be more enjoyable around 2-3 years old. Sipping on a September 2020 version i picked up at Total Wine recently and the beer is in a really tasty place right now!
Flipped in Sirius XM "Red, White, and Booze" station and heard this which may be appropriate for a few Advocates out there!
    Cheers,
    Tom
