    Are they still making those?

Or is yours a "vintage collectible"?

This ad dates from--when? The 1940s? This has to be the first brewer to admit openly that he (they?) brew/s for the "beer cranks," anticipating by many decades the "extreme beer" brewers of recent years.

Well, you know it is an old ad since it lists “Phone your retailer” instead of “Text your retailer”.

One of the great lines in the movie Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle when the Bethany character constantly was complaining about not having here phone, Alex just had to ask:

“Does "phone" mean something different in the future?”

    Cheers!

Yeah, 1940 exactly (sorry, I posted the wrong ad, w/o date) - remember Full Repeal was only 6 years previous - lots of beer drinkers were still damn cranky.

We talk about "not as good as last year" - try "not as good as pre-WWI's Wartime Prohibition, the 18th Amendment'/National Prohibition and the Volstead Act."

I thought @steveh was kidding about the microwaving of beers. Interesting.

Nope. And "microwaving beers" sounds too much like a heat n' eat dinner, I will continue to stress 15 seconds. Not a long time.
Such high praise for a meager beer geek.

I've heard of "Lawn mower Beer", do you consider "Old **** Ale to be a "Snowblower Beer"?

Fair enough, just because I have never microwaved beer does not mean it's a bad idea. I would not do that, but I drink so slowly now that my beer will be at room temp before I finish.
    As far as how Columbus felt;
The ancient Greeks, who knew the Earth to be a sphere, were the first to use globes to represent the surface of the Earth. Crates of Mallus is said to have made one in about 150 bce.

I've always used garage-temp. IPA's or other hoppy beers as snowblower beers - it was often HopDevil in the past, but today it's been Nugget Nectar. Something about the hops that counteracts having breathed in all that exhaust:grin: (esp. since I started up my old Toro 2-cycle snow thrower for the porch & stairs, and since I bought parts for it and had some 50:1 mix handy).

    Still being manufactured.
My vintage one - late 1970s model (?) which I bought not running for $50 at a garage sale - finally gave up on me 2 or 3 years back, when the gear box wore out and I couldn't justify $350 for a part on something that cost me fifty bucks + a bit of carb work and a swapped out used plastic gas tank from an old Troybilt chipper when the original metal one sprung a leak from some hidden rust on the bottom ("Gee, something really smells like gasoline today...")

Although I saw where Toro has a battery powered unit. Can't wait to convert to electric for most stuff, as soon as prices and batteries get cheaper - of course, since I usually buy used, it could take awhile.:grimacing:

Give me a *little* credit.

FWIW -- the Imperial NoNic works best, but a Becher isn't bad. In case anyone feels brave. But probably not -- don't want anyone to sail off the edge of the earth, you know.

I thought of this as soon as I saw the thread title. If I ever get my hands on a can of Heady, it's going straight into the best IPA glass I own.
