Hop Butcher Meet the Mosaics IPA (100% Mosaic). The single-hop Citra IPA I had before this was excellent, but so is this single-hopped Mosaic. These two hops probably make up 2 of my top 3 hops. I think I like Citra more in terms of just straight hop character, but as far as beers and execution go, I might enjoy this one more overall.

Holler Dollar Pils, always excellent, at a place called Winnie's in Houston. And just starting the new Hanya Yangihara novel, after finishing her debut novel early this week.

Lunch at Winnie's. A Japanese style, fried Katsu bacon sandwich. Ridiculously good.

Hoping everyone on the East Coast is doing good, its just at a year when we had that stupid winter storm in Texas. Even for someone that grew up in the north, that was still something. So stay safe.

    Jamaican Rum Duvel...

Got about 6"(?) of snow - winds tended to distribute it unevenly, so maybe off by and inch or two... Light, fluffy snow though...

After the Duvel, I don't know what you call it...
Gin and orange juice with a salt rim and a maraschino cherry...

    And that's where I'm at...

    Pizza reheat-za for dinner soon...

    Cheers...

Man, fuck Westvleteren and their non-descriptive bottle design. I really wanted to open their Dubbel tonight, guess I'm screwed for the grand comparitive Quad Tasting I had planned unless I wanna drop another 10€ on this. I was thinking, "wow, this is incredibly rich for a Dubbel" the whole time I was drinking this...

Trappist Westvleteren 12, a Quadruple by Belgian brewery Brouwerij De Sint-Sixtusabdij van Westvleteren (10.2%).

While I didn't want to admit it, simply due to the ridiculous secondary price, this certainly is one of the finest Quads that I've ever had. I still don't think that it's worth 5 times the price of Rochefort or Bernadus Quadruple, but from memory it does stand just slightly above these simply due to balance and body/mouthfeel.
