    'Evening all!

    It's well past beer o'clock on Friday evening here in Oz so it's time to start a new thread, while American BAers tuck themselves into bed and their European cousins begin their day bleary-eyed and dreaming of today's beers.

    And speaking of beers, we have a pale ale from Longstocking Nano Brewery in Pambula on the south coast of New South Wales to kick off this thread's festivities.

    It's eponymously labeled, with a minimalist can design, and at first blush it comes across as a standard, fruity pale ale. After a moment's contemplation, however, you realise that there's complexity hidden under the beer's skirts, and you begin to detect mandarin and papaya that come to play late on the palate. They're joined by a pleasing sherbety kick right at the end that cleanses everything away and screams at you to take another sip. Don't mind if I do!

    A nice beer and a great way to start the weekend after the first week back at work.

    « La Horse » is an older French movie starring Jean Gabin. Sharing mostly for the music by Serge Gainsbourg, this was a good movie, about Jean Gabins son in the flick being directly involved in Heroine smuggling. La horse is also old French slang for that POS drug.

    Good day BAs! Thanks to @AzfromOz for starting today's thread! We got several inches of snow/sleet/rain overnight so now after 0800 local time, I'll enter the morning twilight and attempt to run my snowblower and dig out my driveway, a path for the mail carrier across my property, a path to the compost heap, and my neighbor's driveway if his SIL doesn't show up. It's warmer today so maybe the snowblower won't freeze up. Today's New Breakfast Beer is the final selection from the Flying Dog "Snowplowed Hibernation Pack" -

    In keeping with the rest of the selections, not very good - rating 3.08, rDev -20.2%. Oh well, I received the Extreme Beer box yesterday so hopefully things will look up! And there is that variety pack of barrel-aged stuff from Jackie O's I received Wednesday to look forward to.

    Damn, really kinda tired of all this flippin snow! Spent 45 minutes to make 2 tire tracks down my very long driveway - now need to go over and dig out my mother's drive as well - too old for this!

    Anyhoo, finishing the pour from yesterday....delicious!

    The coating of snow we got yesterday is just a memory, but the cold remains. Sixteen degrees this morning, heading for the mid-thirties, so no golf for me today. I've got some reading to do and this beer to sip.

    No hike today, just chores and projects, so why not try a beer?

    Not the best choc stout I've ever had, but more than passable. A bit thin, but sweet hints of lactose and cocoa are nice.
