Hey, I've been waiting outside for an hour. I cracked this Lawson's Hopzilla out in the
parking lot. I expect to get bottle service for the rest of the day

The sun is out, the dogs have been walked, and I'm drinking a Bigfoot.

I'm kicking off Tuesday with a pint of Iron Hill Kryptonite Double IPA. It's a really good looking beer. Clear amber color with a big fluffy head that has excellent retention and leaves nice lacing. Plenty of pine and citrus. I didn't realize I had this one a year ago, but in looking at my review, I said I'd get it again and I did.

Good afternoon, BAs! A little too early in the day to take more Advil, but not too early for some more traditional "medication."

Bell's Black Note bottled 03/12/14. There's still a hefty amount of bourbon in this bad boy for a nearly 8 year old beer. No complaints!

    Hi everyone, Advocates!
Stop at the pub, just finished work and before tonight's match in the quarter-finals of the Italian Cu (inter - Roma)...
I took two excellent and very fresh pints of Pale Ale from The Five Points (ENG), on pump.
I'm closing with this bomb, not easy to find:

Evil Twin Brewing (New York, USA, but brewed in Holland, at Brouwerij De Molen's new brewery) - CHRISTMAS EVE AT A NEW YORK CITY HOTEL ROOM - Imperial Stout (10%)

Just tapped the nose immediately scent of dark chocolate, toasted notes and caramel.
Soft beige foam that accompanies the first part of the drink.
In the mouth very dense body in which hints of dark chocolate, dried fruit (hazelnuts, almonds), a sweet but not overbearing note of molasses emerge and a taste reminiscent of peanut butter.
Alcoholic note well hidden, but which is still present.
Quite dry finish (despite everything), even if the sweeter notes remain on the palate (of chocolate and hazelnuts), while on the more notes of dark chocolate, therefore more bitter to counterbalance and balance everything.
Complex beer, warm and full, but well balanced and therefore not difficult to drink even before dinner.

    Sláinte !
    Cheers !

Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup: Lagunitas & two overdue Holiday Ales (All 3 of 3 pairs correctly matched blind)

    1) Pilsner Urquell (4.4%):
The true Czech Pils that has buttery and salty flavors of diacetyl atop the bread malt. Classic.
    versus
    2) Sam Adams Alpine Lager (5.5%): A Zwickelbier-style beer from Boston that has flavors of bread malts for a smooth and billowing finish. A tame beer here.

    3) Lagunitas Stereohopic V3 (7.2%): An IPA from California that is brewed with Citra and Nectaron hops for flavors of mandarin orange, tangerine, and yellow peaches.
    versus
    4) Lagunitas Stereohopic V4 (7.2%): A brand-new IPA from California with Lotus and Sabro hops for flavors of blood orange, cherry, and cream. A full mouthfeel and balanced finish.

    5) St. Bernardus Christmas (9.8%): An authentic Belgian Quad with flavors of dark grape, blueberry, bread, and bubblegum amongst some Belgian spices. A full mouthfeel.
    versus
    6) Breckenridge Holidale (10.5%): A Winter Warmer from Colorado aged in Whiskey barrels with flavors of toasted biscuit, caramel, and oak and whiskey. Strong whiskey here.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    2) Sam Adams Alpine Lager:
This is a milder beer with subtle flavors, but the mouthfeel is nice and full body and nothing but a bread malt flavored finish.

    4) Lagunitas StereoHopic V4:
This is a new release that has good flavors of orange, blood orange, cherries, and cream. I think the rankings so far for the series are V1>V4>V3>V2.

    5) St. Bernardus Christmas:
This Belgian Quad has nice dark fruit and bread and bubblegum flavors. A great mouthfeel and drinkable for the ABV. Holidale wrecked my palate with brown sugar and whiskey.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you tried Sam Adams Alpine Lager and what did you think?
Which do you think has been the best Lagunitas StereoHopic in the series?
How do you think St. Bernardus Christmas stands up for a holiday ale?
