Planning a trip with some buddies and I just wanna make sure I’ve got the best route in mind here.

Doing New Haven (ish) and starting at Tribus, then going to East Rock, then 12 Percent, then either Cliffside or Front Porch. Obviously working Sally’s in there too.

I’m not iron-clad on anything here but Twelve Percent so if you’ve got any additions to substitutions to recommend hit me with em. This could include anything on the way back up by Hartford and back to NY.

For reference I’ve already hit NEBCO/Counterweight/Five Churches/New Park/Hog River/Lupoletto so those are out.

Also any dope bottle shops in the NH area would be great. Especially if they sell singles because it seems like not one single place I’ve stopped in CT does that.

Just FYI Sallys is ridiculously hard to get into at normal eating times. Luckily, Modern and Pepe's are right next door. Also, Bar (pizza) has a really good tap list usually

I know they often get a bad rap, but total wine and more in Milford does singles and usually has a good selection of CT brewery stuff, only 8 mins from Tribus.

If you want to add a new spot Kinsmen in Southington has always been pretty solid IMO. Its sort of on way back north towards Hartford. Not sure how out of the way you wanna go.

If we’re just grabbing a few pies to go is that more feasible? We’re flexible on time but I also don’t wanna spend an hour waiting around for pizza.

Honestly it depends on the time. My friend just drove by around dinner time and there was at least 25 people waiting in line outside. tbh, you really can't go wrong with either of the three places (sally's, modern, pepe's). Whichever one you can get into, I would go to.

Not my personal cup of tea, but a lot of people are hype for Skygazer. I would personally plan a trip over to OEC (sours and lagers in a classic style) over going to Wallingford. If you do go to Wallingford and have any interest in cider, New England Cider is a great stop. Lots of verity.

If you are willing to go further Middletown/Portland is a great area. Middletown has two breweries (Forrest City and Stubborn Beauty) and a cidery (Spoke + Spy, but check their opening times/if they are open) in the same building. Up the road before the bridge is a great meadery (Bergenhaus) next to a great coffee stop (Perkatory). Cross the bridge into Portland, you have Concentric Brewing. They have a large and varied line up, probably my favorite of the listed stops.

Couple things I would add. First, Modern isn't right next to Sally's but it's not too far. Maybe a 15 minute walk, I like Modern the best, but they are all great. I second that Bar is a great choice, good tap list and Pizza, Mashed Potato/Bacon Pie recommended. Lastly don't get too excited for Cliffside and Front Porch, both are mediocre at best.

Also, not too far from Hartford is a bunch of breweries in Manchester, I like Urban Lodge the best and Labyrinth is a couple blocks away if you’re looking to tic it off, but not a fan of their beers although that’s from one experience when they first opened, could be better now. And no one’s mentioned Alvarium in hard hittin New Britain, solid beers across the board..,

Was at Front Porch last weekend and they had a couple of nice stouts to go along with the normal selection of kettle sours.

Just adding another mention for Bar if you are pressed for time. My general experience is way quicker than Sally's / Modern with the pizza just a notch below and a much more broad (craft-centric) tap list.

Definitely try to hit Coles Road in the Five Churches/Alvarium area.

There’s a couple of shops that sell singles that I know of: Manchester Wine and Liquors & Harvest Wine & Spirits in West Hartford. Harvest specifically has a fucking awesome selection of many different beers. They have a ton of singles to choose from and I wanna say you can split 4 packs too, don’t quote me on that though. Manchester is more of a local spot to me but they get all the new releases and you can buy singles of them.

No recommendations to add but if you need a Fox Farm proxy to meet you in the Hartford area…

I might be wrong but Wallingford, Waterbury, Oxford, Middletown, New Britain, Manchester Hartford, etc are NOT New Haven Area. I also second Modern as back up plan to Sally's

I mean, Wallingford is also not New Haven... It's suggestions for OP as most of the post suggest the Front Porch and Cliffside aren't as good as some of the breweries that may be only slightly further.

Personally, when I'm heading to New Haven, I go out of my way for OEC, and that can be 40 ish mins, but the beer never disappoints.

Skygazer is on the radar but is that not in with 12 Percent? Or do they have their own place now? Google Maps and their own IG make it look like it’s the same building.

Good looks on the other recs. A bit out of the way for this trip but I’m in CT 3-4 times a year so I saved them for future trips.

Same as previous response but UL/Labyrinth/Second Bridge are just a touch out of the way for us trying to maximize time but for sure on my radar for future trips.

Good call on Alvarium though, that’s right on the way and very doable.
