I also did a side by side with a can and bottle, both dated freshest by 5/10. No difference in appearance. Didn’t really get an aroma from either pour. I actually got more of the piney hop taste mixed with the amber malt flavor from the can than the bottle, but overall they were very similar. Sorry, @JackHorzempa but I can’t really heap enough praise to recommend you go out and grab this batch, but I’m still enjoying it enough for a once a year purchase.

And that is disappointing. A hoppy beer such as Nugget Nectar should have a prominent aroma.

Based upon your side-by-side tasting it sure seems to be a brewing/beer production issue at Troegs vs. a packaging line issue (i.e., bottle vs. can).

    Thanks for sharing your results.

    Cheers!

Double NN is quite popular apparently, was at two places today and both got wiped out already. I'm still interested in trying it so I'll be on the lookout (preferably a single but a four pack may be alright).

The reviews are favorable too and I noticed that some are hoping for a return next year or replacing regular NN altogether.

Reporting back after completing the 4 pack this weekend. It was no fluke my enjoyment of the first one, the beer is great. Im pretty old school and like a more bitter hoppy beer most of the time, but this is a really, really well done fruitier/juicier one. Honestly I'd classify it as an imperial neipa.

Don't sleep on it if you find it. I bought a 4 pack at an off the beaten path place on Thursday. Tried it on Friday and liked it so went back to get a few more 4 packs - no luck all gone. So were 3 other places but ended up finding some more today - its all gone from there now though thanks to me.

I blame you for this then At both places the employees told me that it was only a few people who cleaned them all out, and in one case the person had commented that they picked up one four pack and loved it so much that they wanted to stock up. I'm happy to see this, as NN is kind of meh now so anything to drum up some excitement is good news.

Saw a single of Double NN for $4.77, so I passed on it. New Trail Double Broken Heels 19.2 oz cans are $2.79, so that’s a no brainer IMO.

Giant KOP had two 4-packs of 16 oz cans remaining this morning. Dated freshest by 5/19/22. I purchased one 4-pack at $16.99. Cracked a can of double NN open earlier (no pic). My thoughts are I feel it’s a softer/creamier version of the single NB. The hop aroma of double NN is not as strong the bottled single NN I purchased earlier this month. I’ll add more comments when I drink the remaining cans

I was feeling under the weather this weekend so had to wait until tonight to give the Double Nugget Nectar a try. Drank side by side with regular NN.

NN is very clear, while DNN is a bit cloudy. Both have excellent head retention to the bottom of the glass. NN leaves a little lacing as I drink, while DNN leaves a massive amount of lacing, thick rings from each gulp.

NN aroma is moderate but pleasant, some grapfruit and mango. Similar fruitiness in the taste, but a touch of pine in the crisp and bitter finish. Short dry finish. Thin to medium bodied, lively carbonation.

DNN aroma is fairly strong but not crazy. Sweeter fruity aroma - more like candied peach. Taste is similar, but maltier. Not surprising that Troegs lists only Munich as the malt used (NN lists Munich, Pilsner, Vienna). There is an underlying bitterness, but its more balanced. Long finish. Body is much fuller, very smooth feel. Overall, quite tasty.

It sure seems like about what I'd expect, with the hops making their presence known mostly in the aroma. If I see it I'm going to get some.

Had the last can of my 12 pack last night. Wasn’t anything special. Not something I’ll purchase moving forward, especially given the price point.

Too many other better beers out there that are cheaper and more consistent.

I finally found some near me yesterday, got around to opening one today.
Tallboy cans, best before 5/18. (the choices were that in a cooler or bottles out on the shelf, and they actually felt warm to the touch. I was more than a little sketched by that.)
Honestly, this batch is as good as I ever remember it being, going back to the times when it was one of them most anticipated yearly releases. (I think I still have a few of the bomber bottles that are in my homebrew rotation.)
solid malt body, good bitterness, but plenty of hop flavor and aroma.
Looking forward to the rest of them. (definitely won't let them sit too long, even in my beer fridge.)

Got a notification that my local store received both NN and Double NN. I think a side-by-side is gonna be necessary for this one

Double Nugget finally made its way to my neck of the woods. This is a very nice beer indeed, peach ring flavor all day long with just a touch of pine on the finish. My only complaint is I get almost zero aroma from this beer, honestly if someone handed this too me blindfolded I don’t know if I could say there were even hops in this!

I'm sure it is just palette shift over the years, but I would swear that Double NN tastes the way regular NN used to taste. The regular version seems really muted over the last couple of years.

I dunno. I don’t notice any differences. NN tastes like it always has, I don’t find any inconsistencies. I have bought cases in the past and felt like there were differences between cans in the same case but that’s highly unlikely. I don’t believe it is the beer or the canning but my taste buds from what I ate earlier. Also I can’t think of a different IPA or amber beer I’d rather drink at the moment. I am sick of milkshake beers and I don’t find the price for this beer to be outrageous… squabbling over a dollar or so for a quality product of 7.5% abv. All these criticisms make me roll my eyes… i gotta stay off these forums. You guys got some imagination.
