    It's technically past midnight Pacific time, so my geographic advantage lets me start another WBAYDN thread!

    It's Friday night here, the working week is done, kids' sport is out of the way, and it's time for a beverage. This one is courtesy of @TurkeysDrinkBeer and is a New England IPA that pours a rich, mango/orange colour that teases of the tropical flavours that wait ready to burst into my expectant mouth. The flavour follows suit, with a piney hoppiness added upfront, before a tropical and citrus fruit bowl takes over. There's sweetness - perhaps a touch too much - that lingers on the tongue, and a nice retronasal fruity kick as the sweetness fades away.

    A lovely beer, with a rating over on the rating part of the site to back it up.

    Drinking Triple Secret Des Moines. It’s a French beer which as you can read on the label won some award for France. Bronze. Third. Not bad at all, some French triple are worthy, too.

    Good to see Iowa being represented here, oh wait, this is not the Des Moines I was thinking of, it's the OG form of Des Moines. Any particular association with an abbey or monastic order or is it a faux-monastic brand situation, or perhaps just a monastic-themed name?

    Drinking some good-looking beers this morning gentlemen.

    Continuing with the cellar, this one an Old Ale.

    AleSmith Private Stock Ale - Vintage 2016

    Full review in the Cellaruary thread. Bottom line is this was brewed as advertised, just one of the if not the first "Old Ales" purchased by me before realizing malty beers aren't my preference. Not sure I'll finish this bomber, another lesson I learned over time (bombers are too large for any style save low ABV lambics / session beers).

    It’s not an abbey beer, much less a monastic order so you’re probably right. More like a monastic brand or theme or an attempt to make it look like one. It’s from the same brewery that spawned La Goudale.

    Decent triple, maybe only a bit on the sweet side taste wise. Belgian tripel tend to be more complex than that. It’s definitely not the best French Tripel I have ever had, nevermind the Belgians world class ones.

    Good day BAs! Thanks @AzfromOz for starting off this thread - BA says you started it at 0351 hours my local time (nearly 5 hours ago) - making it to OZ before I beam out is a definite goal - any day that starts earlier than mine has got to be more useful! Today's New Breakfast Beer is another from BA's current Extreme Beer Box, one of the two I've been twitching to try:

    DAMN GOOD!!! It looks like most other barleywines and doesn't have much in the line of lacing, but otherwise is quite fantastic! Rating 4.57, rDev -3.8%. I may have to take a trip to NJ to search for this!

    Happy Friday BA's! Normal OT complete, laundry going and doing some pre-Super Bowl party cleaning & straightening. The wife is making spiced bacon on the grill. DuClaw Venom 25Th anniversary edition, good, not great. Cigar City lottery draw to see who gets to buy Hunaphu is today. I've bought the last three years, you'd think loyalty would count for something, so far no email......

    Next up is a Phase Three Brewing Double Pixel Density DIPA and it's outstanding! Bourbon barbeque glazed bacon. She's got about 25 strips ready for the super bowl party....I need to find some special beers for the event.......
