Was DB Assassin as good as the hype? Also how is Rare 10 holding up? Had my first 4yrs ago and it blew my mind. Then two years ago, great but definitely not as good.

 

I brought the rare, kept it in pristine condition since purchase back in 2011, defintly on the back end of its trip I for Rialto but still had some kick. Fresh it was insane, and most expensive beer I ever bought at $45 lol. At the time it was absurd. Db assassin was the one I’ve been after and dammit it’s really really good! Enjoyed d15 a squeak more but both are on the same level

 

Was at this share as well, DB Assassin which I brought was my favorite especially as it warmed, but the current price is pretty crazy. Rare '10 was pretty good and has held much better than King Henry, VR, Prop '14, and Backyard Rye which I've all had recently and have gone pretty bad imo. Honestly, I realized I'm not too big of a brandy barrel fan so wasn't too impressed by D15 or BVC (which says a lot about DB Ass since I thought it was great but was definitely less brandy forward than D15 or BVC).

 

My wife and I were lucky enough to both win. I was offering up my extra bottle ++ trying to lock down RBBT. Opened DB Assassin for my dads 70th, the trade posts stopped after that. The apply brandy is subtle but melds perfectly as it warms. Still hope to try RBBT but it’s worth a trip to the Cellar from Chicago if only to try the second iteration on draft if it means drinking the other bottle.

Why would they post a picture of the 375mL bottles in a to-go carrier?

They are so meticulous with their pictures. There are literal photo sessions for each beer. Are they suggesting that these may be available togo??

 

Maybe it was merely how they carried them out for the shoot? Fear of fumbling them out of a hand. I’d be cradling that carrier like my son if it was my responsibility for the shoot.

i was thinking the same thing, except that those 375mL bottles don’t fit all that well in those carriers.
