Don't think there's a thread for this yet so I'll start one to ask, what are some good options for good beer and food in Sacramento and surrounding area?

Obviously I know about urban roots, but what if I want to try something else?

Well, I went to UR to grab dinner and now I wonder why I thought anything else was needed. Such a solid spot. 11° is solid as hell. BBQ is solid as hell. Tons of options on tap. Great brewery

I am impressed by how well they do a variety of styles. I've never had a bad (or even average) beer from them across a bunch of different categories. I also like how they seem to avoid some of the more "gimmicky" styles like dessert stouts with 10 different things in them or a new fruited sour every week with whatever random combination of fruit they could find. They just stick to making consistently great beer!

Ya they're a great brewer with a wide range.

Of course, they had a couple heavily fruited sours on today, so they're not immune to chasing the hype.

But when you've got 2 authentic European lagers, 4 takes on saison, a brown ale, several porters, etc... on offer I've got a lot more patience with you

Racho Cordova has 2 good spots, Movement and Burning barrel, like 15 minutes outside of sacramento.

Rancho Cordova now has several solid breweries in the "Barrel District". Claimstake, Log Off, Thin Line and Fort Rock also. Plus a Meadery and 2 Distilleries.

With the BA forum format change, I don't think we even have an Urban Roots 2022 thread yet. With Colorado, Wash and Oregon now in the Pacific/West Forum, small brewery threads are totally lost. Sucks.

Had this Urban Roots EZPZ Pilsner the other day. Crisp and Clear. Well done.

Whenever I went down to Woodland I would hit Davis Beer Shoppe. Had a great taplist and huge bottle assortment.

When I head up to SAC, I typically swing past Monksa and Track 7.

I used to hit Jackrabbit, but their beers did not impress me.

Old Town Pizza in Roseville has the best taplist in all of sac area, pizza is pretty good too. There are other locations.

Final Gravity is also a must hit in Roseville.

Rancho Cordova Barrel district is legit. I start at Claimstake and work my way back to my hotel right next to Movement, pretty drunk night right there. Burning Barrel is by far my least favorite of the 4-5.

Sac Proper I like hop gardens, capitol hops, university of beer, obviously UR for great food and booze.

Slice (for hops) and Moksa (for BA/non-BA stouts) are about 10-15 minutes away from each other. Those would be my beer recs.

I would check their taplist first. I read some stuff online about them not having as great a selection lately. I haven't been in a few years now.

Geeks of the Industry, a Baltic porter from Urban Roots is really tickling my fancy this evening. So rich and roasty, with just a touch of fruit that softens the tail end, all packed up in a super lean and light body. Almost drinks like a stout version of Death and Taxes. Wonderful stuff

If you're on Facebook they update their tap list almost every day and post it on there.

Just a cool event I got to participate in over the last few weeks at Oak Park Brewery in Sacramento. My wife's artwork was picked for the beer can labels as a part of the "Paint the Globe" event. I ended up getting to help brew a Blonde Ale with Magnum and African Queen Hops a couple weeks back. From Mash in, to transfer, to yeast, ect.... Then yesterday I got to help with the canning run. Hard work, but a great and fun experience. Huge thanks to OPB brewers Geoff and Roog, they were cool as hell and took me through the step by step process.

The Can release will be April 23rd at 2pm.
