Needed a proper malt fix and a burger, Threes always comes through.

Theater of the Absurd has about five times as much flavor as it's ABV. The love here for Precipice possibly understates how excellent it is on a snowy January night. Finished with BA Voluntary Exile and I'm gonna kick my own ass for missing these cans back in December on my last visit.

Place is packed; if you're still avoiding crowds try a weeknight maybe?

I’m gonna be that guy…don’t like the choice for an Anniversary beer. I don’t have an issue with them making this particular style, I just would rather see them use that foeder on any other type of lager for an Anny beer. I wish there was some way they could release an English mild, cask-style in a can, but I’m pretty sure that’s not possible.

Yeah I get that - I was surprised by the choice, but figure hey they know what they’re up to (and have some freshly brewed kicking and screaming which I always enjoy). Thought last year’s anniversary brew Undone, foudre fermented version of Yore, was excellent

And I don’t know enough to say one way or another on the mild, but agree it’d be great!

Undone was amazing, which is probably part of the reason I’m underwhelmed by a “light beer.” If I see it, I’ll probably pick it up, but I’m definitely not going out of my way for it.

$14 for 4-pack of 12oz cans of rice and corn light lager? Easy pass.

Has anyone even tried the anniversary beer or just saying their disappointed by the “style” they chose. The beer used craft malted rice (the same one they use in gowanus gold) and craft malted corn (the same one they use in their Mexican lager (echo of nothing). It’s not really adjunct American lager but more of a craft take on that style - with many of the macro lagers using rice (bud) and corn in the for

The beer is freaking awesome. And if they called it an “anniversary lager” instead of “american light” and put it in 16oz cans for $16 would you have a problem with it?

The beer could be a shotgun crusher if you really want it to be, but it has a lot of nuance and interesting flavor. The aroma is very nice. It’s basically an “American helles” using some alternative malts from some local-ish craft maltsters. An elevated craft light lager indeed.

bottom line, give it a try before you shit on it. It’s basically the equivalent of shitting on yore -which is only 0.4% more in abv mind you - because its a “light” Czech lager.

I don’t think I ever “shit on” the beer.

I laid my opinion out that I’d rather see something a little more bold for an anniversary beer, that’s it. I even said that if I saw it, I’d probably buy it. They’re well within their rights to make whatever the fuck they please for a Anny beer, I’m well aware of that.

I mean I would have less problems with it cause $16 16oz 4pk would be cheaper on a $/oz lol. I mean it honestly sounds like a fantastic beer and something I'll probably try to pick up but it seems like way too expensive for what it is. Grimm Lite is like the same concept and they were only charging $10 a 4pk of 16oz cans and while I would imagine this is a better version of that with Threes being the lager masters and the quality of ingredients is it worth almost double the cost?

The anniversary beer was good, the price point was shit. If I'm ever at one of the taprooms in the summer and Yore is not on tap, it'd be a good replacement. Don't regret buying it, wouldn't buy it again until it's more like $8-10 per 12 oz 4 pack.

I'll shit on it again, $14 for four 12 oz cans is pure horseshit.

If there is a style that fits the pounder can this is it, next year let put a 16% stout in 19.2oz can.

God forbid you pay $3.50 for a can of beer brewed with high quality ingredients. I mean it’s an American lager why can’t the price be the same as Budweiser. Every hamburger should cost the same as McDonald’s dollar menu.

I think the point is that Threes has other beers that almost certainly cost more to produce that offer better value per oz. It’s not that the beer should be cheap. It’s that it’s weird that I could get Lifeworld or Unmitigated more affordably per oz than this.

And I think the format question is interesting. Almost all of their lagers are in pint cans. Why is this 12 oz? It’s the perfect beer for a pint. It’s not because it’s a special anniversary beer, because last year’s anniversary beer was in a pint.

Here’s the picture of the mixed case I bought that included last year’s to demonstrate that I love Threes and am making this critique in good faith.
