Yikes. Up to a certain point I'm fine with people believing what they want, but when somebody devotes their whole social media to conspiracy theories it's not a good look. I mean even just the COVID stuff is one thing but he's still talking about Hillary emails in 2022? Far from ideal.

Yeah, well that's a shame. Sounds like employees have been good about checking cards etc. But yeah seeing him post that he wants civil discussions as he is drawing comparisons to the holocaust and specifically referencing books covering the rise of the third Reich as useful reading to understand our times... yikes. The "but her emails" though. Man, what nostalgia. That's an oldie from the back catalog. Well I feel bad for the employees but there's plenty of good beer. Guess I really do have to go to Suarez soon.

Yikes I wish I still was able to buy his beer, so I could stop buying his beer. It isn't better or cheaper than beer made by folks who aren't triggered tools.

A vaccine mandate designed to protect individuals and society is a comparable dark time in history?

Take care, Threes. I did enjoy your lagers.

I was never ever asked for proof of vaccination at Thress. Granted, I didn't come over often and mostly was just buying cans in the afternoon, but still. As a side note, it's somewhat satisfying that the brewery I'm already not a big fan of ends up being run by a tool. I didn't care about your product, and I won't miss it.

And even with dumbass conspiracy theories, I know that at minimum 25% of brewery owners probably agree with him. It’s when you start using your social media platform to amplify that kind of stuff, that’s when I check out personally.

You can’t post endless bad takes on Twitter, publicly, with your real name, then be angry when people actually read them.

Yeah, he's pretty far down the rabbit hole. Hopefully he has family that'll be there when/if he wakes up, before he isolates himself with his anger. Likely endangered his job already and created problems for a bunch of employees.

There’s a marked difference between an open and honest debate about political autonomy, the rights of the individual vs. the collective good, paternalism, etc, and poisoning the well with asinine conspiracy theories and allusions to the Holocaust.

As a fellow Jew, I think he should be ashamed of himself. To draw such tenuous and tedious links between vaccine mandates and one of the great tragedies of the 20th century is unhinged. There’s a chasm between “never again” and being a sad little boy crying wolf.

Obviously social media allows people to do this, but, as a "not Twitter" guy, seems like top end execs should be trained to either have anonymous accounts or presume their tweets represent the company right? I'm just a doctor at a small practice, but if for some reason I had a public, not anonymous account and started saying anything that might scare patients off I'd probably not be renewed/allowed to buy in if it blew up. That would mean stuff like this of course. But if I went around "calling for the heads of my enemies" from a leftist perspective I'd be in a bunch of trouble too!
But I did see Bari Weiss links his feed, and she is catnip to the exact demo a CEO, especially at breweries, fit into. He's angry, doesn't like how things work, but can't really put his finger on why he's sad/ mad, but having to use certain pronouns or not getting to go into certain non essential places in NYC without a vaccine makes him mad and here is a bunch of people to tell him who to blame for his issues emotionally. Rather than assume pandemic policies are broken because of jurisdictions having different interests, evolving knowledge of the virus and variants, and competing desires to sate capitalism (open the bars, but not the schools) but stick to science (get boosted), he assumes it's some cabal. That's more engaging and inspiring, since otherwise he's just a wealthy white guy who is frustrated with the way America works but can't actually complain the way other marginalized groups can, if one is being reasonable. Ironically getting dunked on will probably entrench him. I assume the company has asked him to stop, so we'll either see an empty statement and he'll go dark, or he'll ride this to the end.
Seems like breweries, just like with the MeToo related stuff, need to spend real money on HR and take this stuff seriously, even if it's from a corporate profit driven place (I think a conversation about the emptiness of corporate wokeness applies here).
I hope he gets it together, and his family can help deprogram him. Or he'll go on the cancel culture anti wokeness tour bus with Bari Weiss etc. But it's a good lesson to other breweries would think to eval social media practices and maybe build something into contracts etc.

I’m gonna keep this in the “local” thread but I’m kinda shocked Threes hasn’t addressed this yet. Almost 24 hours of silence on the subject in this day-and-age of Twitter, social media, etc is a looooong time.

Really thinking about the friends I have that work there. I KNOW they wouldn’t agree or remotely sympathize with their CEO’s opinions or stances so they’re the ones I feel for right now and hope they make it through this, a situation they didn’t ask for, unscathed and still employed.

Agreed. Plenty of people have bad opinions. It's when they don't realize that they own a business, and doing things that are bad for business is ruinous and stupid, that I wonder what other bad decisions have been made on the way to put beer in my glass. If he doesn't care about the health of his business, or the health of his employees, could it be he doesn't care about the health of his customers?

Same. I expected at the very least a "We're aware of the situation and looking into it" post.

Also, its insane comments are still open on their instagram posts ... that usually the first thing to get locked down.

Again, no PR or HR dept with any competence would just ride along. Just not a priority I guess. Hope he quiets down, next thing comes up, and people forget. They're probably figuring it worked for founder's, and that was much more extensive company culture, not one dude. That's my guess.

Looks like Threes is opening an outpost in Moynihan Train Hall. Open 11am-8pm starting Monday. It appears to be more of a takeout spot, based on the renderings on their website. Pretty awesome, if you ask me.

I love grabbing a beer from Beer Table before rides on Metro North. I don't think there's ever been a decent option for craft beer in Penn/Moynihan. Will be nice to be able to grab some decent beer before an Amtrak ride.
