I actually think it's pretty good....which makes it sort a bummer. lol.

They're not hard to 'avoid'. Minimal keg distro. No bottle/can distro. and a pretty good drive from my house.

I thought you might - I knew the locals would.

They've really shifted from the 'black metal themes' to more overtly satanic in recent years. They seem to have embraced the 'any publicity is good publicity' mantra.

I once asked a waiter at a taproom what order I should drink a flight in, to which he replied, 'I don't know, I only drink cider'. The place didn't even serve cider. They at one time had a knowledgeable 'cicerone' on staff, but decided to get rid of him and start employing attractive waitstaff. The owner would post on social media that so-and-so was working that night and to come in and talk to her. Needless to say, the place lasted less than a year after this change. It just stopped being about the beer.
And...any soap would have been a luxury in their bathroom!

Not trying to split hairs...but black metal = Satan.

We metalheads talk about thrash...death....black metal is Satanic.

The primary reason I avoid a brewery is "meh" beer.

I've never been bothered by the environment or patrons of a brewery.

Just out of curiosity (since I'm originally from the Finger Lakes area), might the rebel flag have been part of a NASCAR themed bar? The Glen has an annual race, and motorsports is very popular in the area.

    Nah. Just plain red neck.
Watkins does have Nascar weekend, but most of the race weekends are populated by millionaires and billionaires with very expensive toys. Weekdays too.

Besides, the Confederate flag is insulting no matter its affiliation to Nascar. That connection has not helped Nascar expand much either. To the contrary.

    Cheers

Why is that? Their Vliet is a favorite of mine but I confess that I know next to nothing about their operations.

Nah, there ain't tens of thousands of billionaires camping out at a NASCAR race each weekend. Especially not in the converted schoolbus motorhomes.

Their "Director of operations" is a total racist prick. The beer has gone down hill over the years, as they keep changing brewers. No one has them on tap in the area. Tröegs is everywhere! I won't drink Tröegs either because I am sick of it and it's all over hopped. Flying Mouflon should be available year round as well as the best beer they ever brewed, the Nut Brown Ale.
I was employed at the brewery during their opening and times were great, but I won't let a drop cross my lips unless I absolutely have no choice.
Luckily, they have an "Abbey Bar" upstairs so I can avoid their non consistent swill.
The food and service is absolutely horrible as well.
So many better options in the Harrisburg area.

Yeah, link @FBarber posted is all you need to know. Sorry for not clarifying lol. At least there's an increasing amount of good lager options all around
