Now that you've brought it back into my brain, Ten Year Beer might be a good candidate for me to celebrate Cellaruary.

Somewhat related: for those of you who've been able to try both, how does Apple Brandy VSOR compare to last year's canning of Apple Brandy Ryeway?

IMHO: Apple Brandy Ryeway >> Apple Brandy VSOR

Apple brandy ryeway was really well integrated and had that mazing mouthfeel going on.

Gotta disagree with my guy @FBarber -- I found Apple Brandy VSOR superior. For me, the base beer was dominated in the Ryeway version but was more present in VSOR version.

I really enjoyed Apple Brandy Ryeway and was really not into Apple Brandy VSOR when I had it

I’m going to agree with @GuyFawkes here but for opposing reasons. I finally stopped by this afternoon and tried the remaining variants (regular VSOR was my favorite). But I preferred AB VSOR to AB Ryeway because I thought it integrated better with the thicker, smoother base. I felt the AB in the canned Ryeway overpowered the base.

So that’s one for, one against!

While ice fishing, I drank my last can of Apple Brandy Ryeway the day after the VSOR release/party where I had a pour of AB VSOR. This was definitely intentional. I rate the AB ryeway a 4.59 and the AB VSOR a 4.53. So basically they are equally good. No flaws in either beer. Would happily drink both again and again. Those apple brandy barrels do magic.

Finally got to try some Subz-Hero last night. Not sure if it was ever released on its own or not, but they didn’t have it there outside of the new Hero pack so I bought that. Anyway, it’s excellent and definitely one of the better cold IPA/IPLs I’ve had. Hop profile is on point. If it were a touch more dry so that the lager yeast could shine more, it would be top tier for me. But the sweetness is on par with the rest of the Heroes, so to be expected.

I still wish District Line North would return, but this is a solid replacement.

Which of you awesome folks joined and can share the love and discussion highlights? :sunglasses:

It was a pretty casual call, Jim really liked this year's VSOR while Marty was a big fan of Raspberry Deth from this season's releases. Here are some other excerpts I remembered:

    - chatted about barrels and forecasted bourbon barrel shortages due to increasing demand
    - Rev may look to French oak for some fun future projects
    - talked about Maple-Bacon beers for a bit. Jim mentioned there's oak that can simulate that bacon flavor, he seemed excited by the project, but Marty not as much (lol).

@BeerCruncher shared a picture on Instagram last week of a new Unsessionable label. I don’t drink giant IPAs anymore but I will surely make an exception for this. An all time favorite from Rev.

Have you drank any deep Woods beers? No gimmicks to be found with Revolution. Best barrel program in Chicagoland. Deth tar has been incredible since the year Revolution started canning & honestly every year Deth Tar keeps getting better even when you think it can't, but it does get better surprising me every single year. Also noteworthy... Straight jacket is probably the best barrel aged barleywine in the world. Microphone Drop!!!

As far as I’m aware, there aren’t non-barrel aged versions of these beers … They are brewed specifically for barrel aging.
