Along the same line as the Fair State thread, let's get this one going as well. I see Schell's Bock has already hit the shelves. Probably will abstain until the Snowstorm is gone. Wouldn't it be nice if Schell's did a different bock for every quarter? Maybe a different a seasonally inspired bock in the same format, same SKU. Summit doesn't brew Mindblock anymore so we are in need of a new maibock in the 12oz 12-pack format. And then maybe a wheat beer for mid-summer as a weizenbock. Then a doppelbock or I would love to see a version of the rye bock they did 15 years ago for Snowstorm for the fall. No BS adjuncts, just keep it traditional, drinkable, and affordable.

Cracked a Star of the North yesterday, still great carbonation, delicious, and drinkable!! Wish I would have bought more at $6.99 a bottle when it came out.

    You must read my mind!
I love Schell's seasonal beers and your ideas would make Schell's great seasonal lineup even better. I can't imagine how much Schell's I would be buying if this came true. I wouldn't need to buy anything else. Make this happen! Are you still there @bergbrew ?

Schells old doppel was decent and had one of my favorite labels with two goats drinking out of a chalice if I remember right...

I would be much more active in this thread if August Schell would resume distribution to northeastern Illinois.:beer:

Cave- Aged Dark Lager & BA (Baltic Porter) is superb in taste quality and price.

Is this the same outfit that made Schmaltz Alt? I remember getting that in Wisconsin in the early-mid 90s. I really liked it, even though I didn’t know my Alt from my elbow at that point, beer-wise. (Or otherwise.)

Just looked up their web site, and a lot of their stuff looks good… and not really available most places I travel. Oh well.

The Rye Bock was my favorite in that pack.

Schells Schmaltz’s Alt was my “intro to craft beer” beer in the early 1990s. Loved that stuff

Schell’s does make solid beers. One of the few things that I miss from my time commuting from Chicago to Minneapolis for work.

Think a moment about "northwestern states breweries".
What states pop-up in your mind?
    Alaska, Washington, Minnesota?
In which of those states would you be surprised to find a brewery which did not distribute to northeastern Illinois?

Anyone tried No Frills Pills or the new brown ale?

No Frills is going to be in my fridge a lot. It's just the sort of pils you'd expect from Schell's- a well executed, delightful lager. Further description would have me repeating the notes printed on the can.

I've always been a Schell's fan, but their website blows!! I went there to read about No Frills Pils & the new brown ale...both are no where to be found.

The website is all over the place, (reminds me of a low level FaceBook page) & always behind the times (the March 5th Bockfest is still listed on the main page).

    Come on Schell's, you're better than this:angry:!!
