It’s dark fruit & booze. In a good way.

Gosh I hated KoD so much. Took a couple sips then dumped it. I couldn't get over the excessive sweetness without any other flavor to act as a counterpoint.

This is comparable to assassin when I’m referring to dark fruit

This has me feeling very lukewarm. The dark fruits in assassin aren’t really my jam, and to me overpower the beauty and complexity of what a beautiful BA stout should be. I know some people love Assassin, so I don’t expect everyone to feel the same as I.

Looks like the new blend of The Scribe has been added to the on-site list at both locations

Can someone decipher this for me?

Join us at both locations today for an on-site bottle of The Scribe Blend # 2- a beer we have not released in more than 6 years!

For a beer inspired by a mead from Schramm’s in Michigan, we used the malty sweetness of a Belgian-style Quad, to lay the base for the fruit and the very soft acidity generated by our Side Project microflora. To add complexity, character, and purpose to this huge beer, we aged it in a variety of oak - bourbon barrels, red wine barrels, neutral American and neutral French. We brewed this beer in November of 2017 and began aging it in the variety of oaks, then racking it (double barrel-aging it) to additional oak barrels with fruit in them for the second aging and final maturation. The result is a beer finally worthy of resurrecting The Scribe name. It straddles the line of what beer is and what is just a delicious beverage.

Are they saying that this beer, released this week, was brewed in November of 2017????

Is this the oldest beer they've ever released?

    Am I misunderstanding anything?

Symmetry had some barrels that were at 64 months. Continuance b1 contained some barrels that were up to 50 months. On the dark sour side Black & Wild b3 was aged over 4 years

    >4 years is impressive, especially for the entire beer being aged that long. I understand that Cory and the others are master's at this point, but it's an impressive thing to let a beer go for that long, knowing that it needs that, and tasting it the whole time saying, "This hasn't gone long enough. Longer. It's still getting better." -And, somehow getting to it before it hits the inflection point.

I'd like to try this beer if I ever get a chance.

Well, just like the people who drank Scribe b1 and said "eh, this might taste better in another year or two, 5 out of 5 caps"...lol...and kept doing so year after year.

Knowing your tastes (at least, in passing), I wouldn't put too much effort in seeking a sour, fruited quad, no matter the pedigree.

Scribe b1 was amazing when I had it a year ago. Hopefully there is a public release for the new batch

Haven’t seen a ton of comments about it, but I had blend #2 this afternoon and enjoyed it immensely. Definitely worth a try imo.

Made the trip down to hang out at the cellar today. Love The New Scribe. While I think PN10 turned into a fantastic beer with time this is very reminiscent of the OG right out of the gate.
