I just recently retired and was wondering if my beer consumption had changed at all. I thought about it for a bit and found that it seems to have stayed pretty much the same.

Just wondering what other retirees thought about this subject.

I may have started out drinking more, but health issues opened my eyes and I reigned in. It's helped me appreciate beer more when I step away for a while.

Since I had more time, I started drinking more but also started running & working out more. Realizing that's not a healthy approach, I've since cut back on both... and got a part-time job.

At first my drinking didn't change much, but because of my age I've noticed the alcohol consumption affects my quality of sleep due to frequent bathroom breaks.
Sometimes I go a whole week without having a drink of alcohol.
    Well sometimes less.

I will retire at 61 in a couple of years. Quitting alcohol four years ago has helped me to get the punch needed for finalizing the working career. Could have got a drinking problem after retiring, now I can concentrate on other issues.

I cut back drastically some time ago, so for me it's about the same (i.e. not much). I "officially" retired last month, but then took a part-time job almost immediately. Same company, same duties, same pay. No bennies, but also no on-call weekends, and I pick the hours I want. It's working out well. I was diagnosed with a-fib four years ago, so I'm trying to pay better attention to my health these days. Everything in moderation.

I consider myself semi-retired, may I vote? I am drinking more. My wife got a full-time job working from home last spring. We have two young kids so I had to quit my full-time job. I used to get up at 3:00 a.m. to work 15 hour days 3 days a week. The night before those days I would not drink. Now I am a school bus driver and I find myself having a beer most nights. Going to need to rein that in I think.

I am on my 7th week of retirement, since my employer shut down our facility in January....
got a decent severence package (22 weeks full pay), so I have not been buying as much beer weekly, as I am trying to stretch those funds out as long as possible....then unemployment, then social security, etc
I am drinking about the same though, I believe - just drinking down a large cellar of beer!

During the past several years the amount of beer I drink when going out to a pub/dinner has declined. Aging, not retirement, is the cause but no worries about that, jaja. It is only an issue when being at a new brew pub and sampling the offerings and enjoying a pint or two as well. Oh, some context... I am approaching 70.

Since retiring I drink about the same amount, but not as close together. While working I would go 7 days on a shift and not drink, then come time off and I'd binge drink a bit. Now that I don't work, I've really just spread out the number of beers I have throughout the week, only drinking 1 to 3 beers at a time, and I'd say enjoying them more also.

Work out, eat healthy. Watch how much you drink. Ive been retired for 13 years. Some recent health issues have made me cut back.

I would be considered an "early" retiree (left turning 50 in 2019). I planned on volunteering or doing something part time, but that has been on hold with all of the Rona restrictions/mandates. I typically had two beers at home a day in 2019-2020, but cut back down to one in 2021-2022 and it's better, IMO.

I used to drink more when I visited bars or breweries before retiring. Now my tolerance is less, and I typically have 1-2 instead of 2-3 + during a visit, and also less visits (1-2 bars/breweries even traveling vs. 2-3 +). These decreases are offset by the fact I didn't drink much at home when I worked beyond a beer with a meal. I drank more out when working, though part of that can be chalked up to Rona, so I voted "about the same overall". I have avoided being "Buffalo" or "Bloto" in retirement, but do nap at times after drinking a BA Imperial Stout from my cellar.

Trying to update my beer records / ratings since my start with craft (2015), so perhaps I'll be able to answer this question more definitively later this year (or when I complete it, have been very slow going). In any event, I'm comfortable with where I am at now, and don't plan on changing.

No more on any given day and less on most days. The difference is now I'm in control of my time so can drink whenever I want and manage instinctively to space things out. In short drink whenever without ever getting drunk.

I am retired four years and drinking less. For whatever reason I don't have as much desire to drink beer. I must be getting old!

I retired in my early 60s in late 2020. At first, my drinking increased because I viewed it as being on a perpetual vacation. Of course, the health issues arose, especially with sleep interruptions. I also realize that such consumption is not in my interests nor my spouses. So, I have been cutting back.

I have found myself drinking more frequently since retirement but about the same quantity every week. When I was working, I would binge drink(3 or 4) on Fridays and Saturdays and not drink at all Sunday to Thursday. I like having a beer everyday better.

Just turned 47... and yeah, I'll probably stay at the same level of consumption I will be at immediately before I retire, provided I can still afford it by then.
