Happy Sunday friends! Just got back from playing with our kids at my brothers, I snuck out after to visit my favorite brewery and catch up with my best friend. I grabbed something different for me a dry hopped mixed culture saison, why not?

Tonewood Brewing - Alter Ego (5.2%)

This beer pour a bright and cloudy yellowish straw, white head, OK retention, minor lacing.

Smell was very spritzy; as in refreshing acidity, a tiny showing of brett but it paired very well with the lemon lime bite.

Taste was similar sour lemon, some minerality; what I liked most was a soft fruitiness that eventually as it warmed kept remind me of bubble gum, like double bouble, very nice.

Drank very easy; nice and light, bright carbonation, a little touch of sour but very soft on the palette after that, low bitterness on the finish.

I challenged myself to branch out with this one and I’m glad I did. It was super refreshing and easy to drink but had some nice depth to it.

I am going to start my day with this beer it pours thick and created a one-finger head. The flavors are pronounced cinnamon, maple, and coffee. The berry flavor weaved its way through the beer. A lovely pastry stout.

I haven't reviewed this one yet but I will very soon. A tasty well balanced Hefeweizen named Liquid Sunshine by Naples Beach Brewing of scenic Naples Florida. Light and refreshing with plenty of clove and banana in both the smell and the taste. Prost!

Happy Sunday Advocates! I've enjoyed this Lake Monster Depth Charge Juicy IPA.
6.2%ABV 55IBU. A very tasty, hoppy and semi-drying brew. Cheers!

12oz can into a Spiegelau glass.
L: Pours bright hazy apricot w/a tall 2.5" rocky off white head. Fair carbonation. Good head retention down to a thin cap. Good sticky lacing & banding.
S: Earthy, wet dog, ripe fruit suggestions, stone fruit, citrus rind, pineapple pith.
T: Lightly bready, subtle fruits, papaya, passion fruit, pineapple, citrus zest, a hint of coconut, a suggestion of sour candy. It is elegantly sweet, lightly pale, fairly clean & overall gently tart.
F: Juicy & smooth, moderately drying & med-bodied mouth feel w/a light linger.
O: Not a complex American IPA. A great tasting & feeling easy drinking beer. It is very good in it's style.

It is the first beautiful day we've had in a long, long time. Sunny, a bit of a breeze, temp in the 60's. A prelude of the season to come. So nice that I had to switch off from pils to an anticipatory beer.

Abre Qui Donne from O'so Brewing.
A 6.7% “barrel aged sour blonde ale refermented on Georgia peaches”.
O'so says to imagine a “warm summer day in a Georgia peach orchard with Grandma's fresh baked peach pie waiting to reward a hard day of harvest”.

The bottle is dated November 2018, opens with a satisfying POP, and pours an orange tinted peach color with almost no carbonation and no head.

The aromas are unripe peaches, lemon zest, damp hay, and oak leaves.

The taste is almost ripe peach and nectarine, with lemon and orange zest, barnyard straw, and oak twigs. No noticable carbonation and an unripe fruit tartness with a dry aftertaste like chewing on an oak twig

This is a very, very nice sour ale. Tart, without being sour, with lots of peach flavor and a Belgian style funkiness that finishes clean and leaves you wanting more. That being said, Grandma needs to find a new recipe if this is how her peach pie tastes

Good afternoon BAs! While far from “winter” today here in SWFL, the “cellar” cleaning continues with Fremont’s BA “B-Bomb” (2020), an Imperial Winter Ale aged in 8 - 12 year old American Oak Bourbon Barrels, and is a blend of 9, 12 & 24 month old barrel-aged Winter Ales:

Poured at 55°. Creamy tight dark tan head briefly sits atop a dark opaque body with ruby see-through; poor cap retention leaves a small island of micro dots and medium ring; bands of soapy lacing and heavy legs on swirl. Bourbon, caramel, spiced plums, and tobacco nose. Semi sweet toffee, bourbon, spiced plum pudding up front; oaky vanilla and tobacco with light bitter hops and coffee middle; sugary raisins as liquid warms; bitter sweet dark chocolate finish. Alcohol bite on tip of tongue; medium minus carbonation and medium body; smooth with a light drying oaky barrel tongue coating; despite the boozy bite, minimal warmth from 12.8% abv. Overall excellent; well blended/balanced ; barrel flavors compliment base; barely spicy for a “winter” ale, yet enough to notice; and just enough alcohol to make me sip rather than drink deeply; I like how there is some hop bitterness, like a fine English-style Barleywine; a great Winter Warmer!

Bought a Jack's Abby mixpack for a party we had yesterday. This was the only beer in it that I have not had before. And it kind of fits the malt theme that @JackHorzempa started us off with.

Poured from a 12oz can undated that was in a mixed pack stamped 11/01/21 to a Nonic at fridge temp.
The body is a medium dark amber and I can barely make out my fingers on the other side of the glass. A fairly white half-inch head sits on top. Lacing starts out okay, but is all gone after a quarter of the beer is drunk.
The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, and rootbeer.
Taste is quite sweet and malty. Caramel and rootbeer apply again.
    Mouthfeel is medium.
Overall- okay, but not something to seek out.

Edward teach teachs peaches. Very good wit. Aromas and flavors of lightly tart peaches, fruit fuzz/skin, orange peel, pear, apple, coriander, peppercorn, wood, grass, herbal, pine, wheat, bread, yeast earthiness. Light to medium bitter/spicy finish. Bready/sticky medium body. Drying resins, no astringency. Not as much fruit in the taste as the nose. Very similar to blue moon. I've had another variant before. 3.8

Perennial Abraxas Imperial Stout 2021, 11.5% ABV. Pours black and thick with a one-finger medium brown head that left no lacing but the cap lingered. Nose is chocolate, cinnamon, and faint peppers. Taste follows, weak pepper, plus vanilla. The more it warmed, the cinnamon really popped, nose and taste. Excellent smooth and thick mouthfeel, overall world class. Way better than Prairie Bomb or Stone Xocoveza.

Wilmington tropical lightning ipa. Great ipa. Aromas and flavors of red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, citrus peel/rind, melon, peppercorn, wood, pine, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass. Large sized bitter resinous drying finish. Medium body. Light warmth of 7.4%. This tastes like stone ipa. Probably Columbus, Chinook, Centennial. Very aggressive west coast. No complaints. 4
