Mikerphone Brewing (2022)

Anyone wanna talk about New Workout Plan? The Milk stout with Walnuts. Man, I can't believe they actually sold that. A very skunky and terrible tasting beer.

 

Anyone know if the Binny’s/Mikerphone barrel aged collab bottles ever released? There were some hints on both of their social media accounts but the posts all disappeared.

 

I thought that beer was excellent on draft

 

Interesting that Mikerphone bought a new bottling line and is moving to 500ml bottles

 

They are releasing 7 barrel aged beers for their 7th anniversary.

 

Any other thoughts on the Binny's collab? Trying to decide if I want to eat the $30. Although a straight up BA rye stout is very much in my wheelhouse...

 

For any WCIPA fiends out there like myself, recommend giving She's So Divine a try. Picked up a can to try and it's hitting the spot. Piney, resinous throughout. Nice bitterness. One of the better area WCIPAs I've had in some time. I plan on picking up a 4pk.

I am ALL about the Rye, but that 750ml format is just not for me any more. It was painful (but easier) to get two DB Benthic for $30.

As @Nbrock24 mentioned, it is interesting they are going to 500ml bottles. Take a look at the link and pricing and let me know how many you will NOT be purchasing. (I joke, I kid...)

 

Finally. 500mL bottles are the best packaging format for BA beers, and 750mL bottles are the worst. It is known.

This batch was not as good as their previous batch. New Workout Plan was always one of my favorite Mikerphone beers, period. This batch was a lot thinner and less coconutty.

Also love the 500ml format and glad they are making the switch. Wish one of these new BA beers was just a straight-up BA stout with no adjuncts, but the restraint on most (and by restraint, I mean 1 adjunct) is promising. I know I am in the minority, but their stouts have (for the most part) been pretty solid the last couple years.

 

I know it’s Untappd and incredibly biased but it seems like a real mixed bag.

 

I have always been a supporter of Mikerphone, to a fault perhaps, and have been a regular visitor to the taproom since opening day. Even as their regular releases slipped in terms of quality, their barrel program has IMO remained top notch. Just got back from the taproom trying all of the variants (except the 2 with peppers) and have never been more disappointed with a flight of beer anywhere.

Every adjunct is artificial and overly sweet or overdone and it’s hard to believe these beers spent more than 20 minutes in any kind of barrel. So glad I didn’t pull the trigger on OZNR last night for bottles. Dodged a bullet there.
