I guess I'm referring back to 2018 as around when I noticed they blew up. Before that weren't they canning pastry stouts?

Batch 1: BBT 3/4/5 with a good plus
Batch 2: HF Damon (I'd avoid this one though, it has turned into soggy cardboard)
Batch 3: Pappy 15? Probably ~50ish bottles still exist
Batch 4 (375mL, was in boxed set): Symmetry or Generational

Some cellared bottles of B2 got released from Crooked Stave a month or two ago for their anniversary so I’m assuming those are tasting a lot better than the average bottle of B2 due to proper storage

unfortunately I almost never see the boxed set bottles move on their own, only as a set

Can anyone help with the value of the Voodoo Very Old box with glass? Thanks.

Ah, I see what you mean. Yeah, Forager switched from crowlers to bottles for their non-BA stouts probably around that time (or maybe in 2019?). They had quite a bit of hype by then though, I'd say starting with Nillerzzz b1, which I believe was just their second bottled BA stout (after Magnus). Then there was a slow trickle of BA stouts until a year or two ago, when they started putting out way more BA bottles, and also switched to new labels and a matte finish on the bottles (which was the packaging switch I thought you were referencing earlier).

Not sure if these were with glass but seems to be 500-700 in sales with these trades closing. 500 was more recent

Derivation 15, ultra coffee 2021, double oak black magick b2, and "a local beer." 4:1

    2x W12. 2:1

Blue BM b2, Green BM & Purple BM. 3:1

~550 in voodoo bottles + 250 gift card

DM + "nice plus or two tbd"

    DM without a plus

BBT 2021 + Pips Echoes In Eternity + Pips Obscure + Orange Wax Black magick B2. 4:1

    400 in amazon gift cards

So it's kind of all over the place. I've really only seen it move as a set too, no individual bottle movement.

People need to start getting used to the idea of breaking up the set, I'm drinking at least a couple of mine.

yeah exactly. I’d like to try one of them but don’t want the full set since I’m assuming they’ll be relatively similar with some being better and some being worse

Do Cantillon seasonals like St Lam and Fou Foune still have a decent trade value? Seems like it dropped quite a bit over the last one or two years, what can I still expect to get for these beers? Seems like only the much rarer Cantillon bottles are still in really high demand.

Very good BBA stouts are really hard to come by in Europe, except for Pohjala and Pühaste, which aren't that commonly available. What can I expect to get for these two bottles? I would love to try Assassin or Maman, but not sure how realistic that is.

What other stuff is out there worth trading for? I was thinking maybe some Bottle Logic or BCBS seasonals, would these fetch a 2:1 ratio? Any other stuff to look out for?

They have value for sure in the U.S. (at least in that people (like me) will trade them and trade for them). The issue is just that the value, if you're trading internationally, might not make it "worth it" to assume the risk/time/cost of trading overseas. They probably have like... idk, 80% of their value that they used to? Most seasonals around 75 and Lam around 100. But it's not like someone is going to necessarily want to do a trade of their 225 stout for your three seasonals. It's easier to get that deal done domestically.

If you are trying to trade Cantillon seasonals internationally you will definitely have to go over on your end to get an Assassin or Maman, probably like 3:1 to get a conversation going. If you were domestic you could probably trade 2 seasonals (depending on which) for 1 Assassin or Maman, but still may need a small plus. You can probably go 1:1 with a bunch of Bottle Logic and BCBS seasonals (of course depending on which).

The cost and stress of international shipping are just not worth it for most for seasonals that can be found in the states with relative ease.

Nowadays a lot of breweries sell very high quality BA stouts online and you can just find a proxy willing to ship to you. That may be your best bet if you can't find a trade for Cantillon. Good luck!

What would it take to get a bottle of DDG?

Would a trade with some of deGarde flagships or keepers beers get it done? Nectarine Premiere, The Peach, etc. Or would a recent Floodland bottle work?

I rarely browse the trade forum any more so thanks for your input!

I would think multiples of de garde or 1:1 with a lot of Floodland.

The toughest part of trading for DDG is the upfront cost of it. At $40, it’s over twice the cost of most DG beers. Lost Abbey just released the 2022 online and allowed proxies, FYI.

+1 on all of the above. If we go back 5 years, it would also have been unthinkable for Cantillon to have an online sales and proxy shipping service, which has shot the trading fox. Add in additional risks (LAX intercepting boxes) and prices rising and it’s no surprise that there is less transatlantic trading.

It’s still worth trading IMO provided you don’t ship more than 10kg on your side (5x75s) and you prioritize cans over big heavy bottles - I recently traded 4x75s of limited lambic for a mixed 8 of Revolution Deep Wood cans (2x VSOJ, 2x SM Cafe Deth, 4 other Deth variants) etc and felt it was good value. YMMV of course.

Microcosm is around 180-220 and obviously kbbs is 380-400 so not only would you have to add just to get a kbbs you’d need a whole other trade to get an assassin as well

I guess the Cantillon seasonals have just become too common in the US these days. I'm sure they are expensive as fuck, but they are available and there are enough people around willing to pay those prices. That's also why you can hardly find any Bokke in Europe anymore, they export most of their beer to the US, where they can charge three times what they would get here.

From a European point of view, this really sucks. I still remember a time when international trades were pretty much the only way to land these bottles, now noone wants to do these trades anymore, even for sought-after bottles like St Lam, Vig, Fou and 50N4E. I made a thread for these 2 days ago and got nothing but crickets.

I still remember when the first Cantillon standards became somewhat regularly available in my area and I was like: awesome, I can trade these for some US BBA stouts! I quickly learned that noone gave a shit about standards and you needed seasonals as trade fodder, which I had no access to back then. Now I do and even the seasonals have become worthless for overseas trading, FML. Hell, last year I opened a thread for Drogone(!) and Racine(!) and only got one bite, which didn't work out.

Guess I'm gonna have to drink all that Cantillon myself now. Sure, there are worse dilemnas you could find yourself in, but I already had all of those and they cost me a pretty penny. But hey, at least I managed to buy two Jackie O's BBA stouts from my local dealer today. I just wish we would see some more of those Baptist bottles that were pretty available one or two years ago. Those were awesome, at least the ones that weren't infected.

From what I know, Cantillon is not being imported into the states right now. So if that continues, the demand may go up.
