I think it's supposed to look like a deal. And on the surface it does. You get more than twice as much, but for 10% less.

    But:

"Includes seating." Okay, but can you bring your own chair for the grass when you buy a GA ticket?

"Includes food." Okay, but what kind and how much? And are there any food options for GA people? Can GA people bring their own food from outside?

"Includes twice as many tokens." Okay, but can I buy more with a GA ticket? And how much is each token? $1? $5?

Mrs. vurt and I have thoroughly enjoyed our previous trips to Yakima for the festival. But it just doesn't add up for us this year.

See you in Hood River, @John_M .

I believe I am in agreement. Gonna see if the Hobos would be interested in HR.

Pissed me off too Terry, but...

I'm retiring in a couple of weeks and expect to have a lot more free time. Plus, both the cardinals and giants appear to have made some interesting roster changes during the offseason and look like they might have a break out season. Soooo.... I'm strongly considering getting the MLB season pass this year.

I'm trying to be strong, but I'm probably going to cave on this.

I got MLB.TV last year and loved it. Any game except for the Ms and National broadcasts (Fox Saturday afternoon games and ESPN Sunday Night games for example). Would often be streaming the Ms radio broadcast, while jumping between games, checking in on LookoutLanding, and popping in here.

But, fuck those cheap fucking bastards. They signed new contracts with ESPN and Apple for exclusive games during the lockout, a time when, ya know, they didn't have any actual content to sell, and then not a penny of that money got to the players. The few minor concessions they gave up won't even put a scratch on those new contracts, let alone the existing ones.

    Fuck those guys:

But it does imply the existence of a "hard IPA," and I'd probably buy that. Especially if it means the beer has real, face-melting bitterness.

Good point. Plus, who wants to advertise they have a wimpy palate? It's sort of like reaching for a box of extra small condoms at the drug store if you're a man. Or something.

Why? With the caveat that I haven't had that beer - I actually find that description helpful. Modern : more fruity/juicy hops. Soft: gently bitter. No mention of haze/NE : still WCIPA like.

I'm with @DefenCorps on the meaning. And I'm pretty sure I've used it myself. Tons of modern wc ipas (from the actual west coast) have a softness to them. Instead of relying on pine resin and citrus pith hops they are carried by peach and pineapple and citrus fruit flavored hops. They aren't not wc ipas, but they are a modern softer version of the style

If it's a new recipe how is it not modern already? Feeling the need to state that it's modern comes off as coy, pandering, and redundant. To me, it seems like they're after hazy drinkers but don't want to come out and say it, not to mention it's sort of a suggestion that other IPA's are relics.

But isn't there a distinction between a new recipe and a modern one? I could see a new Sierra Nevada Pale Ale inspired beer that tastes anything but modern.

Devils Cabbage is GREAT. I was happy to see there's a new batch available now.

Very interesting indeed. I had no idea that Brian S. had moved to Seattle. Hard to think of him as anything other than a Baltimore native.

I'll be curious to see how well the brand does out here. At the time Stillwater got started in Baltimore, his farmhouse ales really stood out. Brewer's Art was making a number of Belgian style ales at the time as well, but I don't think anyone was making the sort of saisons/farmhouse ales that were made by Stillwater.

Here in the NW... I think it's fair to say that there's going to be considerably more competition. I'll be curious to see how well the brand/brewery does in its new location.

I guess he's long since divested himself of any interest he once had in the East Baltimore restaurant he helped start (Of Love and Regret gastropub).
