Anyone else have trouble finding Bigfoot locally the past couple years? A local store used to special order it for me and the last 2 years said they can't get it. I tried a couple other local places and same thing. They special order other stuff for me though. Now I have to drive 2 hours to a big city to get it. Then because they have such a great selection I end up spending over $200 on beer. I can't decide if this is a good problem or not!

I still see it multiple places every year, but someone from SN posted sales have been declining. I hope they never stop making it.

They have this vertical 12 pack for sale online for $35 and they ship to OH. Free shipping if you spend $75.

Had some Ionic bourbon barrel aged barleywine this evening from Fibonacci Brewing near Cincinnati. Rich, warm and wonderful. I recommend checking out this brewery if you have a chance.

I tried the 3 vintages before 2018 last year and they were all at least interesting, with one being excellent. Hope I come across more recent releases at some point.

Haven't seen it is SoCal in about a year

I have checked their website to see if i cant get BA NARWHAL and i cant ever find it there. Makes no sense

    Additionally,
Imagine all the " I used to buy Bigfoot every year!" Posts if they stopped distributing it outside of CA

    Time Bending from Bottle Logic.

A month ago I had my first barrel aged pecan pie barleywine. I never expected to have another. Lord Humongous is a tough act to follow, wonderfully named with glorious can art.

Brewer's description- Time Bending is a solera-style blend of strong aIe and barleywine that dates back to an initial collaboration with The Eighth State Brewing in 2019. Exemplary liquid aged in a medley of Heaven Hill, Willett and Rittenhouse Rye casks throughout 2019, 2020 and 2021 combines with complex depth - the oldest made soft and round with its extended time in oak, while the youngest offers a spark of molasses-toned bitterness.

Seems a shame to pile any extras on to the above. It works really well, this is truly amazing, but I'd love try it without the spices and pecans some day.

Yes, it has become quite a chore to find the last bunch of years. I found a six pack in the spring of 2020 and had not seen it in 2019. I used to buy a case when it was six packs, prior to four packs. I see it’s back in six packs now. I did see this years but it’s quite expensive compared to what it was. I made a purchase from SN, BA spiced and a vert 12 pack was shipped free. Can’t complain about $5 16oz BA cans and $35 vert twelve pack.

Yes, it’s tougher to find here but can be found with work.

    Enjoy

@DIM, sir, you have had quite a run of double-digit ABV beers stretching back six weeks or so. I have to ask, does your liver hurt LOL! Appreciate the thread brother!
Yesterday afternoon i finally got around to cracking Bernese Barleywine from Thirsty Dog. Definitely a classic American Barleywine, with the fruity malt base and abrasive hop finish. I found it very enjoyable and maybe the big brother to Bigfoot?
    Cheers,
    Tom

Proclamation out of RI does a really nice English Barleywine called The Floor Is Barleywine. So naturally, when they released The Floorpie Is Barleywine, a version with pecans, I had to get it. Big big big mistake. It smelled like syrupy vomit. I'm mostly skeptical of adjuncted Barleywines now, only buying them from trusted breweries

Wow, that is a vivid description. And I have to say floor pie is a terrible name. I strongly prefer non-addjunked barleywine but I have had some very pleasant surprises. Tree of Bliss was one, I saw that you liked that one as well. I would have loved to try that without the extras though.

That has GOT to be some kind of joke. Seriously, did they release it on 1 April?

Even after a quick search, I have no idea what "floorpie" "floor pie" is, however your description seems apt.

Correct sir! Tree Of Bliss was, well, pure bliss. They usually an already fruity coffee as an adjunct so I think that's why the orange worked so well with it too.
    This guy gets it!

That’s odd - it has been in SoCal (San Diego, LA, and IE) for a few weeks now. Also found several stores in NorCal with it this past week.

Good to see the English style is the leading vote getter. I found this surprising given the love of hops. Some of the American styles are a hop grind, I like hops and many double and triple IPAs but for that style I prefer the maltier English style.

Here's a real nice English Barleywine. Wastach's Top of Main series had a few different brews they aged in Pinot Noir barrels..This one is great. Classic English barleywine flavors with a very slight dry/sour taste from the barrels. This is my last one and im hoping they do it again.
